A unique orange cat was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rescuers quickly realized that he was very special. The cat, lovingly named Charlie Chowder, had only one eye and was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia (HP.)
Charlie Chowder couldn’t see very well, and his condition made it hard for him to walk or stand sometimes.
Charlie Chowder doesn’t let his disabilities slow him down in any way. In fact — he’s in no pain whatsoever and doesn’t think he’s any different than any of the other cats at the shelter, the Animal Welfare Association.
The staff at the shelter immediately fell in love with the special orange kitty and his big loud purrs. He also loved to cuddle. But they all had their concerns — this special needs cat was going to need someone who understood the full scope of his disabilities.
A woman named Rachel Gregory, a veterinary assistant, saw a post about Charlie Chowder on social media. She was smitten and wanted to meet him immediately.
The shelter staff explained to Gregory that a few families had previously shown interest in Charlie Chowder, but they backed out once they learned more about his condition. It was just too much for them. But for Gregory? It wasn’t an issue at all.
“I was thankful for her honesty, and her love for him, and I was brought close to tears,” Rachel said.
The moment they met, the deal was sealed. Charlie Chowder was officially leaving the shelter and going to his new forever home. It was a match made in heaven.
Now, the special needs cat loves to run around his new house and play with his kitty sibling who has the same condition.
“He teaches me that it’s okay if we fall down, so long as we pick ourselves back up.He is a constant sense of comfort and love, purring louder than any cat I’ve ever met when I hold him close, and lovingly giving me kisses with his rough kitty tongue.” “His white facial markings make it look like he is always smiling, and due to only having one eye it appears that he’s winking constantly. Both of these features highlight his personality perfectly. He truly is the happiest, bravest cat.”

And when he and his furry friends hear the treat box? They coming running down the hall in their adorable, unique way.
“Admittedly, Charlie does occasionally fall out of his litter box and go to the bathroom on the floor, or he may fall in it and get himself dirty which requires a bath, but otherwise, he is just like any other cat,” Gregory says.”This sweet cat wobbled into my life with his funny walk, and for
“This sweet cat wobbled into my life with his funny walk, and for that, I am forever grateful,” Rachel said.
