Uses For Bleach Around The House
My favorites on this list are using bleach to treat fungus on feet and using bleach to repel insects. Do you know of any other nifty uses for bleach around the house?

Bleach isn’t just for bleaching. There are lots of ways you can put bleach to use around the house.

Here is a list of our favorite household uses for bleach.

Disinfect Towels

If you have white cotton towels that are funky and need some disinfecting you can soak them in water with a small amount of bleach before tossing them in the wash.

It’s a good idea to do this when you have a sick family member to reduce the spread of the illness.

Make Cut Flowers Last Longer

Add 1/4 teaspoon of bleach to one quart of flower water. This will kill any bacteria threatening your flowers and will help them to last longer.

Polish Plastic Furniture

Mix 1/2 cup of bleach and a 1/2 gallon of water and use a brush or cloth to scrub or wipe down your furniture.

Disinfect Tile Grout

The grout between your tiles can get pretty funky. Scrubbing it with bleach will that dark build up and lighten your tile and also disinfect and kill and bacteria and germs that might be lingering there.

Garbage Can

The best way to truly clean your garbage can is with a mixture of bleach and hot water. Scrub the inside of it with this solution to get rid of the smell and other nasty stuff. Rinse with water.

Brighten Up Glasses and Dishes

If your glasses and dishes are looking a little dull you can brighten them up again by adding a teaspoon of bleach to your soapy dishwater. Make sure that you rinse them off well and dry with a soft towel.

Disinfect and Rust-Proof Garden Tools

You don’t want to spread sickness between your plants. A way to avoid this is by filling a bucket with a 1/2 gallon of water and a 1/2 cup of bleach and soaking your garden tools in it and letting them air dry. This method also helps prevent rusting.

Polish White Porcelain

Make your white porcelain sparkle like new with some bleach. Place your item in the sink and layers some paper towels over it. Saturate the paper towels. Let your item soak for 15 minutes to a half hour and then rinse and wipe clean.

Treat Foot Fungus or Stinky Feet

Got stinky feet or an itchy foot fungus? Soak your feet in a gallon of hot water with 1/4 cup of bleach for 5 minutes or less. Make sure you rinse and scrub your feet clean. DO NOT use this if you have any open wounds on your feet.

Disinfect a Cutting Board

It’s really important to make sure your cutting board is clean and not covered in germs. Scrub the surface with a brush that’s dipped in a teaspoon of bleach that is diluted in 2 liters of water. Scrub in circles and rinse well before you buff dry.
