We’ve seen some inspiring canines, but I’m not sure you’ve ever seen a pup quite like Dogtor Loki!

This special lady helps keep hospital staff happy and healthy!

How does she do this? By being hella cute and handing out “hero healing kits” to hospital staff!

Look at that sweetheart! So stoic and pretty!

Loki got involved with the hospital after her owner, Caroline Benzel, was a student at the Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore! But due to COVID-19, Benzel’s schooling was put on hold and Loki’s presence in the hospital diminished.

Until Benzel thought she and Loki could still do some good for the hospital, rather than waiting around at home!

Initially, they would voice and video call staff to help them through long days and keep morale high and stress low, but Benzel began to notice a recurring issue – the gear staff were using to protect themselves was irritating their skin after hours of use! Masks and gloves cause friction against the skin, and after twelve hour shifts or longer, the irritation was more than noticeable!

Benzel resolved to create “Hero Healing Kits” which consisted of hydrating skin lotion, chapstick, tea, chewing gum, baby powder and moisturizer to alleviate the iritation and make these stressful shifts a little more bearable!

By asking friends, family and people from around the world to donate to her cause via social media,

Benzel has been able to raise enough money to create 4500 complete kits, and counting!

Benzel had raised around 1400 complete kits as of April 11th, meaning in just ten days they’ve tripled their donation count! People from all over are donating to the cause, hoping to ease the burden health care workers are carrying if only a little!

“We are at OVER 4500 KITS donated and counting!!! AND people in over 8 states are trying to get Hero Healing Kits up and running. It’s official: this is a NATIONAL MOVEMENT. You all are incredible. Plain and simple.” -Caroline Benzel

(P)update on HERO HEALING KITS: So far we have raised over 1,400 total kits, but are closer to +1,600 incomplete kits 😱 The donations keep coming in!! Needless to say, we are blown away by the kindness and generosity of people. . We will be distributing the majority of these to 4 different hospitals over the next week. AND THAT IS JUST THE BEGINNING. . Further, the hope was people would see what we are trying to do and be inspired to do the same in their respective areas, and that HAS HAPPENED! 😁😁 @jkrevitz and her fabulous momma bear Becky in Philadelphia wanted to do the same, and have already collected almost 200 #herohealingkits in a matter of days (pics of their progress above πŸ™ŒπŸΌ). We also have inspired others to do similar projects in NJ, NC, and other parts of Maryland. . THIS was was the dream, and it is coming to fruition: not only to help frontline workers/first responders, but to inspire others to do the same in their counties and states for their respective hospitals. . Thank you again for all the love and support shown through all of this. We wanted to show our people keeping us safe some love, and because of you, we have been able to do that. πŸ’•πŸ’• . . If you would like to donate, the amazon wishlist link is in the bio, or DM for our Venmo. Or if you would even share our story, we would be so grateful πŸ™πŸΌ . . If you would like to start Hero Healing Kits in your area, please reach out and I will help you in any way I can. To see our original story that started all of this, go to @dogsofcharmcity for her article β€œNot All Heroes Wear Capes…” . . . Also, a big thank you to all who shared our fundraiser including: @propetshots @doctordiaries @jaanuubydrneela @minidoodlebentley @rottweilermom @hi.this.is.tatum @cliveandbacon @ripleyandrue @dermguru @smittythepup @baltimorehoney @dood_itscharlie And countless others . . . . . #thankshealthheroes . . . . #dogtorloki #emt #premed #rn #scrubs #residency #resident #rottiesofinstagram #Rottweiler #doctor #nurse #rottie #medicine #dogsofig #dogsofinsta #puppy #dog #petstagram #rottweilersofinstagram #dailyfluff #dogoftheday #cutepup #medstudent #hospital #medlife #medicalschool #ellenratemydog

Now, people across the United States have started their own initiatives to create Hero Healing Kits (although they might not be delivered by such a cute dogtor as Loki) in an effort to support their local hospitals!

Initiatives have popped up in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, and other states as well! At this rate, it won’t be long until there are Hero Healing Kit initiatives in every state!

People have also taken to sharing photos of their Rottweilers on Loki’s facebook page, to which Benzel has been extremely responsive!

How much cute can you fit on one page!?

Of course, Loki was a Norse god of trickery who was always a bit of an enigma, which seems fitting for our adorable goofball of a dogtor! (Don’t be fooled by a certain superhero series of films! Loki was never Thor’s brother and often showed up as a woman!)

But while Loki the dog is a goofball, it doesn’t seem like she’s up to no good at all, quite the opposite! She’s a hero in her own right!

If you can help at all, please check out Loki’s Amazon wishlist here to donate and help get these kits to more health professionals who need them!

Thanks to Caroline Benzel and Loki the Dogtor for everything you’re doing to help in this time of need! You are inspirations both!

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
