What you’ll need to get rid of that stubborn ring is thread. Yup, thread. Even Frodo would have been so annoyed learning about this.

Face your palm down, and slip the thread through the top part of your finger where there should be small space that’s just enough for it to slip in to.

You may need help with this one.

The thread needs to be pulled through and wrapped around your finger so it can be tightened. The end should be taped down by the tip of your finger.

Now to remove the ring, grab on to the first end of the thread, the one nearest your wrist, and slowly pull it as if unwrapping a present.

Notice how the ring just follows every time you pull off a loop?

If you’re doubtful about this little trick, here are some comments that testify to its effectiveness.

Eric Valk shared,

“I was in Stockholm, Sweden on a business trip when I had an allergic reaction with massive swelling in my fingers. The nurses in the hospital emergency used this trick to remove my wedding ring. Couple of refinements: Use waxed thread or floss so the ring slips more easily. Also, put the windings closer together to better reduce the swelling.”

When my father was being prepped for emergency surgery, we needed to remove his wedding ring quickly My brother taught this trick to the surgeon as he has to use it in the field for wounded soldiers quite a few times. It really works!”
