When Susan Boyle first made it onto our television screens, she was a completely different person. You could imagine seeing Susan walking her dogs in the local park or picking up a bottle of milk one early morning. She was an ordinary woman, and everyone took this to mean she had no extraordinary talents to speak of.
As we all know, Susan proved us all wrong when she opened her mouth on stage of “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2009, singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables in an audition that has since racked up over 10 million views on YouTube.
People fell in love with Susan because she didn’t already look like a star. She represented the notion that anyone can hide an astonishing talent – you don’t have to look like Beyoncé or come from a stage school.
As Susan’s name became well-known around the world, she hit heights of fame that she probably never expected. It’s likely that she faced some pressure to change her appearance, but aside from looking a little more glamorous with makeup and hair dye, she didn’t go to drastic measures to alter the woman everyone had fallen in love with.
One thing that Susan was willing to work hard for, much more importance than appearance and what others happened to think of her, was her health. Back in 2013, Susan was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Susan, who is teetotal and a non-smoker, was reported to initially find it difficult to cut down on the sweeter stuff (we all know how that feels!). But eating less sugar has had its obvious benefits for Susan, who has seen a dramatic weight loss transformation in the past few years.

According to Style Craze, the latest report of Susan’s weight loss is that she is now 50 pounds lighter than her original Britain’s Got Talent weight. Many photos show the flawless songstress showing off her new slimmer figure in glamorous dresses and fitted jackets.

It has been reported that Susan lost weight by cutting out sugar and exercising, which is the simplest means of weight loss. There are a whole lot of diets out there – Atkins, KETO, plant-based, Whole30 – but eating a calorie deficit diet while exercising has been proven one of the the most effective.

If you want to lose weight or reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes like Susan, sugars you need to cut down on include those in processed foods, fizzy drinks, cakes, pastries, breakfast cereals, candies, alcohol, and dipping sauces. You can still enjoy sugars from natural fruits and fruit juices, and cane sugar or dark brown sugar, which are less processed than white sugar.
Susan was able to show her fans just how far she’s come when she appeared on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” last year. In the show, Susan spoke about her own unique position in the world of showbiz, saying:
“(I’m) a champion for those who don’t have the confidence to do things and don’t have a voice; the ones people tend to ignore. I feel like I’m a champion for them.”

There’s no questioning the fact that Susan Boyle is one of the most incredible women to have unexpectedly shot to fame. She is a role model to us all, and her ability to stay humble and down-to-earth while being one of the best-known talents in the world makes us love her all the more.
