โ€œGet me a bottle of water Harlow.โ€

These were the words Jaquie, Harlowโ€™s owner said to the dog who had been listening to his owner and retrieving everything she asked for accurately.

According to Jaquie, heโ€™s incredibly smart and grabs everything thatโ€™s asked of him. He has been professionally trained to be Jaquieโ€™s service dog. In the video, before his adorable mistake, Jaquie puts Harlow through a series of commands.

He does amazing with the remote control, blanket, and even retrieves her slippers. Then she makes the sweetest mistake. but on this day, when Jaquie asks Harlow to get her a bottle of water, she goes to the fridge, opens the door and brings her a bottle of ranch dressing by mistake.

Jaquie finds it quite humorous and asks her to go back and get her a bottle of water. Harlow pauses and gives her a look like โ€“ I just brought you a bottle of water, how thirsty can you be? Then she turns around like a good girl and goes back into the fridge and retrieves the water. Pretty incredible what dogs are capable of learning.

According to the ADA, a service animal defined by title 2 and title 3 of the ADA states; โ€œA service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.โ€

The ADA also says that some of the tasks can consist of the pulling a wheelchair, retrieving dropped items, alerting a person to a sound, reminding a person to take medication, pressing an elevator button and other thing as well.

Jaquie has her own youtube channel called โ€œChronically Jaquie.โ€ She has a lot of information in her videos if you want to learn more about Harlow or herself and why she needs a service dog. One of her videoโ€™s that I have enjoyed watching is called โ€œAll about Harlowโ€ on Jaquieโ€™s channel. Here she goes into length about Harlow and how he helps her specifically. If you have a disability and will be requiring a service animal, I would encourage you watch her videoโ€™s with this one being a must watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCb2Rl3BB4s

She created a lot of helpful videoโ€™s to watch and learn from. On her channel there is section called โ€œService Dog Supportโ€ and this is where you will find the videoโ€™s that focus on Harlow and how she helps Jaquie. She covers a lot of different areas and each video has something to offer. Here are some of the topics she covers โ€“ service dogs 101, how dogs help in the hospital, the gear necessary to have a service dog, flying with a service animal, and what it takes to train a dog specific to your needs and disabilities.
