The tiny house obsession started nearly a decade ago, and it has only continued to increase in popularity since then. Tiny homes arenโ€™t just a trend โ€“ theyโ€™re designed to address current issues, from financial struggles to global warming.

There are so many reasons to build a tiny home, from reducing your environmental footprint to consuming far fewer resources and improving your quality of life.

Building a tiny home is an incredibly fun project โ€“ but something that most of us would only want to do once.

Unfortunately for Brenda Shreen, who lives at the Tiny Tranquility Park, she had no choice but to arrange for a rebuild of a new tiny house after her original home crashed on the highway during a move.

This could have been the end of Brendaโ€™s tiny house living for good, but she confidently faced up to her unexpected challenge, rather than try and save her old home.

No matter how attached to her old home she may have been, her new tiny home is more modern and quirky than ever.

Brenda had formed her obsession with tiny homes after falling into hardship and living homeless for some time. She moved into her first tiny home in 2016. After it crashed on the highway, she moved to Tiny Tranquility Park and stayed in a nightly rental until her new home was built.

Dubbed by Brenda as Tiny 2.0, Brendaโ€™s new tiny house is maroon with grey windows and wooden accents on either side of her front door.

When you enter her property, you arrive straight in her living room-kitchen area.

The living space has a fold-up table for Brenda to prepare food or do her work. When the table is pushed up against the wall, the space turns into a fitness area for Brenda to practice yoga and stretching exercises.

Brendaโ€™s tiny home truly feels lived in. There are paintings hanging in every bit of spare space on the wooden walls, and her kitchen counter space is taken up by coffee machines, jars of herbs and spices, and a tiered fruit bowl.

A set of stairs leads to Brendaโ€™s loft area, with a queen-sized memory foam mattress.

Thereโ€™s just enough space for Brenda to sit upright in bed โ€“ but thereโ€™s nothing cramped about her tiny bedroom. A large window by her mattress makes the space light and airy.

A few items from Brendaโ€™s original tiny house were salvaged and can be found in her new home, including her bar stools and her three-burner stove. But according to Brenda, some things, like her old range hood, were too smashed to save.

Most tiny home owners favor a place to put everything out of sight, but not Brenda.

Most of her homeโ€™s โ€œclutterโ€ is on show, from her kitchen utensils to her cooking items. She explained:

โ€œEverything for me is open because I want everything functional, reachable, as well as asthetic.โ€

She added that everything on her side space was eventually going to be raised onto her walls, but she still has special design features in her home that give her more room when sheโ€™s cooking, including a couple of drop-down tables.

Brendaโ€™s bathroom is small and quirky, with a silver metal horse trough bathtub and an entire collection of rubber ducks. Thereโ€™s also a fan that works as a light, a heater, and an exhaust.
