When you’re kayaking or canoeing, it’s always fun to try and spot local animals. Usually, these animals will keep their distance from you, but there are exceptions to this. Sometimes, animals will get curious about who’s in their territory. This is what happened when three kayakers went out on the Forth Estuary in Scotland. While there, they picked up an adorable hitchhiking seal!

When one of the kayakers first noticed that a seal was tailing him, he didn’t think anything of—it’s normal for seals in the Forth Estuary to follow people. The seal followed the kayakers for almost a mile and a half, and he kept getting closer and closer to them. The kayakers started to get a little nervous since they were dealing with an unpredictable wild animal. Thankfully, there was nothing to worry about; the seal was friendly and simply wanted to say hello.

The seal grabbed onto one of the kayak’s tie-down loops, which made the kayak rock dangerously. The three kayakers tied their kayaks together for extra stability. After they did that, the seal decided that he wanted to climb aboard.

The kayakers laughed as the seal clambered onto their kayaks. The seal even let one of the kayakers pet his nose!

The seal kept jumping off the kayaks and climbing back aboard, and he was clearly having the time of his life. The kayakers stayed with the seal for as long as they could, but soon, the tide started pushing them in the wrong direction. They sadly said goodbye to the cute seal and went to catch up with the rest of their group.
