Cosmo is a lovably Saint Bernard who was born to a breeder in Nebraska. Even though Cosmo was sweet and healthy, the breeder decided to surrender Cosmo to the Hearts United for Animals shelter.
Cosmo was clearly confused about being in the shelter, but he was still friendly to the staff.

Jayne and her husband lived in upstate New York, and so Jayne decided to fly to Nebraska, rent a car, and drive Cosmo home with her. She was willing to go the extra mile to bring Cosmo into her homeโshe already loved him that much!

Jayne arrived in Nebraska and drove over to meet Cosmo. She was nervous that she and Cosmo wouldnโt get along, but it turned out she had nothing to worry about.
She and Cosmo bonded instantly!
โI donโt know if Cosmo has any understanding of whatโs happening, but I think he understands thereโs a human here who wants to give him some love and heโs pretty happy about it,โ Jayne said.

The next morning, Jayne and Cosmo began their drive back to Upstate New York. Everyone at the shelter was sad to say goodbye to Cosmo, but they were happy he was going to a good home.
Cosmo was nervous about getting in the car at first, but once he figured out how to climb in, he calmed down.
Everything went well during the long drive from Nebraska to New YorkโCosmo spent most of his time resting in the back.

Finally, Cosmo and Jayne arrived at Jayneโs house.
Jayne introduced Cosmo to her two other dogs, Poppy and Grendel, and everyone got along. Then, Cosmo took his first steps into his first-ever house.
Jayne let Cosmo wander around his new house at his own pace. The pup slowly wandered around the living room, sniffing all the armchairs. He also stopped to say hello to Jayneโs giant rabbit!
โItโs nice to see him on a big space, see him spread out and put his belly on a cool floor, and just know heโs finally staying in a space, a place where can feel happy and comfortable,โ Jayne said.

Cosmo also met Jayneโs kids, Alice and Owen. The dogโs eyes lit up when he saw the kids coming to pet himโhe seemed to have already decided they were his new best friends!

As the days and then weeks went by, Cosmo got more and more comfortable in his new home. He decided that the couch was his favorite place to take a nap, and he also enjoyed sampling his familyโs โpeople food.โ
He and his sister Poppy also became best friends.

Cosmo is doing great with Jayne and her family.
The Saint Bernard is surrounded by people and animals who love him, and that love has helped him come out of his shell.
โAnimals just understand life a little bit better than people sometimes. Itโs like they know whatโs important, and if they have love and food and a roof over their headsโฆthatโs all that really matters,โ Jayne said.

Cosmo is a sweet dog who found a wonderful home. Weโre so happy for him!
