Orphaned Ape Learns To Trust Again By Making New Friends
Thank god they found this little one when they did!

There is an epidemic going on that affects apes around the world.

Nearly 3,000 chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, and orangutans are illegally killed or stolen from the wild each year, according to a report from the United Nations Environmental Programme’s – Great Apes Survival Partnership.

If an ape is not the victim of an illegal killing, they can still be the victim. Many apes are orphaned when their parents are killed by poachers.

Farah is a 10-month-old ape was found in a horrible situation by Ape Action Africa and thankfully, the young ape was rescued by the right people.

Ape Action Africa is a great organization working hard to take care of apes in need. Their motto is:

Ape Action Africa is passionate about great ape conservation in Cameroon. Our goals are to address the immediate threats faced by gorillas and chimps in Africa, and to work with communities to develop long-term solutions to ensure their survival in the wild.

We rescue orphaned and injured gorillas and chimpanzees, some only days old, hours from death. Once they are in our care, we work around the clock in Cameroon’s Mefou Primate Park to give them urgent veterinary care and nourishment.

When Farah first got to Mefou Primate Park, he wouldn’t let anyone touch him. The poor chimpanzee had been through so much, he was completely traumatized.

But the rescuers and experts at the sanctuary weren’t going to let Farah continue feeling so upset. They gave him round-the-clock care for weeks until he was recovered.

In order to earn his trust and help calm him down, they decided to introduce him to three new friends.

And that was just what he needed! Farah was introduced to Lomié, Paula, and Jenny. Each of Farah’s new friends gave him the comfort he needed.

Farah is able to share love and affection with Lomié, play rough with Paula, and chill out with Jenny. All four chimps get along and are an inseparable foursome now!

One person commented on YouTube, sharing how happy they were to see that Lomié is now able to help another chimp, as they’ve previously met Lomié.

It is so lovely to see Lomié giving hugs to Farrah. Lomié was the smallest chimp when I was at Méfou.
