“It’s so hard to have to acknowledge it, because it’s so painful to talk about,” Bublé said.

The singer’s words make his situation tragically relatable to anyone.

World famous singer Michael Bublé’s voice usually brings a smile to anyone who hears it. But his recent appearance on Carpool Karaoke had the opposite effect. Bublé’s story shows how devastating cancer is. And anyone whose family has been impacted by a life-threatening disease will relate.

The special edition of Carpool Karaoke, which aired in the UK on October 26th, was very different from the norm. Regular viewers of the show will know that, on the whole, it’s a feel-good show. But anyone who watches this episode can’t help but shed a tear.

The segment starts like any other episode of the show.

Host James Corden and guest Michael Bublé harmonize to one of the hit musician’s most famous songs.

But at just over 10 minutes in, Corden brings up a difficult subject…

Corden mentions how the singer has gone through an incredibly difficult situation. Right away, Bublé starts to tear up. Then the musician drops a bombshell revelation: his son, Noah, suffered from cancer, at the age of only three.

“Obviously, we got the diagnosis. And that was it. Man, my whole life ended […] Basically, they just said that it wasn’t great. So we just took it day by day.”

Even someone with no family experience of cancer has to be moved by those words.

Corden then sums up what many in the audience must be thinking.

“I genuinely cannot begin to imagine what it feels like in that moment, when you think that you might be… So how, as a parent, how do you keep that courage? How do you keep that sense of trying to think that, ‘We will get through this as a family?’”

Luckily, Michael Bublé’s son’s story has a happy ending.

Noah Bublé went through chemo and later experienced remission of his cancer, his father reveals. Bublé obviously prizes his son above everything else, as he then states:

“I say to him, because he loves Spiderman, we love Spiderman, and I always say to him, ‘Spiderman’s amazing, Superman’s amazing. But they’re fake. They’re not real. You’re a superhero. You’re my hero, my real superhero.”

After this heartwarming statement, Bublé implores anyone watching to donate to cancer research organizations.

Some sources writing articles such as these would go further into Bublé’s personal life. But based on his testimony, it seems better to talk about how anyone can contribute towards fighting cancer.

Every country has cancer research charities. Their work has the opportunity to make a real impact upon people like the (now) five-year-old Noah Bublé. While cancer survival rates have improved in recent years, in America over 600,000 people will die of the disease in 2018 alone.

What’s even worse is that in 2017, cancer care amounted to $147.3 billion. This cost is expected to increase hugely in the future.

But contributing to cancer research charities can make a difference. If you want to help fight cancer, then the easiest way is to visit StandUpToCancer.org/LateLateShow and donate what you can.
