Some neighborhoods are terrorized by thieves, people who don’t pick up after their dogs, or neighbors who park their cars like jerks.
But one Colorado Springs neighborhood has been terrorized by a pooper… a mad pooper.
It all started when Cathy Budde’s kids spotted a runner in the midst of taking a poop just outside her home. Since then the woman, who they’ve deemed as “The Mad Pooper, has been taking a crap in these poor people’s lawns at least once a week for seven weeks.
“They are like, ‘There’s a lady taking a poop!’ So I come outside, and I’m like… ‘are you serious'” Budde told KKTV. “Are you really taking a poop right here in front of my kids?!’ She’s like, “Yeah, sorry!”
Eventually, Budde called the Colorado Springs Police Department who are attempting to track the woman down.
“Two other times we’ve caught her — caught her yesterday — she changed up her time a little bit because she knew I was watching,” Budde said. “I put a sign on the wall that’s like ‘please, I’m begging you, please stop.’ She ran by it like 15 times yesterday, and she still pooped.”
Budde claims that there are even public restrooms in the neighborhood, but this woman prefers to relieve herself on her lawn. She even brings her own napkins to wipe with.
The police department says this is the first time they’ve had to track down a renegade pooper.
“It’s abnormal, it’s not something I’ve seen in my career,” said Sgt. Johnathan Sharketti. “For someone to repeatedly do such a thing … it’s uncharted territory for me.”

A man claiming to be a “family representative” for the Mad Pooper posted a video online explaining the situation. According to Running Magazine, the video, which is no longer available on YouTube, served as a “formal” apology for the woman who he calls “Shirley.” He states that the runner has a traumatic brain injury which causes her to have mental processing and bowel control issues.
“When nature calls, nature calls,” the man says.
He goes on to threaten that the family will take the case to the supreme court if necessary. The video has not been confirmed for authenticity.
“We’re being very careful. Yes it’s humorous, but we want to be careful if this is a mental health issue,” Colorado Springs Police Public Information Officer Lt. Howard Black told Running Magazine.

Since the Mad Pooper’s story broke, Charmin toilet paper brand has offered her a year’s supply of toilet paper. Squatty Potty also suggested that she invest in one of their products.
