Dogs can feel anxious too.
When Kira Wilson had to send her sweet little French bulldog, Laszlo, off to the vet, she was worried. But it turns out she wasn’t the only one. Her other pup, a rescued chocolate labrador named Hannah, also turned out to be very worried. Hannah and Laszlo were best friends, after all.
“I came home and she saw I didn’t have Laszlo with me. She started crying. She was so very sad. I had never seen her like that before,” Wilson told The Dodo.
Hannah continued to show her sadness in other physical ways. While she continued to worry, she sat down next to Laszlo’s crate and refused to move.
As a pet owner, the last thing you want to see is your pet feeling sad. Wilson tried pretty much everything to cheer Hannah up but nothing worked and she ended up crying herself to sleep near her little friend’s crate. Heartbreaking.
Wilson, who lives in Dayton, Ohio, had brought Laszlo home earlier that month. She was naturally nervous about how Hannah would react — she is a rescue and, plus, she has about 100 pounds on the tiny French bulldog.
Fortunately, the two become best friends immediately upon meeting. The two furry creatures actually became inseparable.
“From day one they clicked. She’s so gentle when playing with him. Almost like a mama dog and her puppy,” Wilson said.
That special bond was obviously strong enough that it would never break, not even when Laszlo left for the vet. Hannah immediately noticed her absence and never really became okay with it.
The good news is that Laszlo was coming back. Wilson got word that he was doing well and was going to be able to come back home, so she would be able to come to pick him up soon.
So after seeing how poorly Hannah handled Laszlo being gone, you can only imagine what her reaction would be like when she saw him again.
When Wilson walked through the door with Laszlo in her arms, Hannah was beside herself. Wilson said that Hannah was so happy — actually thrilled — and has shown no signs of sadness or anxiety since Laszlo’s return.
The whole thing made Hannah a little clingy. Now, she never leaves Laszlo’s sight and she even goes to check in on him in his crate before the two go to bed. You can’t say that isn’t the most adorable thing ever though. The bond these two pups have is so solid.
“She somehow knows he’s hurt, so she doesn’t even really touch him,” Wilson said. “She just lets him lay on her and do whatever. But she’s there. Always close by. I can say with the utmost confidence that they’re besties for life. They make my heart so happy.”
Even though Hannah is so excited to have Laszlo back with her, she somehow knows that she needs to be gentle with him since he’s recovering. How sweet and smart!
Their heartwarming reunion was captured on video too. In the clip, you can totally see just how excited Hannah is when her bestie returns home. It is clear they will be best friends for life!
