This Koala is struck by a car and seriously injured, her baby Koala won’t leave her side, clinging onto her the whole time.
Koalas are all over Australia and they are adorable! The baby Koalas ride around in their mother’s pouches, making them marsupials. They also sleep 23 hours a day, basically, they just wake up to eat.
For this Koala named Lizzy, that 1 hour of awakeness turned near-fatal when she was struck by a car. Lizzy had a collapsed lung and was rushed into surgery. Her baby boy, Phantom, still hanging on to her back.
The baby Koala wouldn’t take no for an answer, screaming as they tried to separate him from his mother.
When Lizzy the Koala was hit by a car and rushed into surgery, she had her baby boy clinging onto her back. The poor baby was frightened and had no clue is his mother would be okay.
When they went to take Lizzy into surgery for a collapsed lung they tried to remove her baby from her back but he wasn’t having it. He screamed as they tried to take him away from his mother, they had no choice but to continue the surgery with the little guy still attached.
This protective baby Koala stood by his mother Lizzy’s side while they worked on her collapsed lung.
After forcing the vets to leave him with his mother during surgery, he comforted Lizzy who was surely in a heap of pain. Famous comedian Marty Fields posted the pictures to Facebook and said:

Lizzy the koala was taken to a wildlife hospital in an Australian zoo, with her son holding on to her side. Lizzy had been hit by a car. Her little boy, Phantom, only 6-months-old, was luckily unharmed and screamed when they tried to remove him from his mother.Lizzy suffered a collapsed lung that required emergency surgery.Phantom continued to hold on and would not leave her even during the operation.Lizzy survived the surgery and is currently recovering with Phantom by her side.Please take a minute and share these wonderful images of animal’s ability to love.”
