The bond between dog and human is almost unbreakable. Many people talk about the bond between them and their dog or cat. The bond humans can share with animals can go beyond this life and even into death.
We’ve seen this when one part of a human-pet duo passes away, and radically affects the life of the other. One worker at an animal shelter did everything she could to make sure that the bond could go on for as long as possible.
A kind lady by the name of Jessica works at the Santa Rosa Animal Shelter in Florida posted on Facebook this kind and heartwarming story. We’re so glad she did, because now we can share it with everyone who reads this post.
This is the kind of content we all need to see in 2020 because it’s been such a difficult year.
A woman came in sobbing, just absolutely devastated about her dog
She said that a woman came into the shelter crying last month and took everyone in the building by surprise. She wanted her dog back, but couldn’t pay the fees to get him.
“It’s okay, we got you. You’re getting your dog back,” Jessica comforted the woman.
After looking for a bit to find the dog, she quickly located him and brought him out to the woman who loves him dearly.
The cute pooch is named Glock, and boy was he excited to see his human.
In fact, the boy was ecstatic to see his human owner again.
“He was jumping and prancing he was so happy to see her, and she was crying and hugging him,” Jessica wrote, she also added an important part of the story: Glock is deaf.
The Animal Shelter went above and beyond to help the woman.
They supplied her with food for him, and a voucher to help with the cost of getting him neutered. Earlier on in the day, the woman had mentioned that she also had kittens, and the shelter gave her vouchers for the kittens spay and neuter treatment as well!
A good shelter saves lives. It’s not focused on the money, says Jessica.
Jessica wanted to make a point about shelters and flexibility. Some people can’t pay the fees to get their pets back, and she was glad that her specific shelter is “progressive” in its thinking.
She went on to talk about “why they do what they do” and stressing the need to understand that their goal is saving animals’ lives. Helping and giving is just one of the ways they can accomplish that goal.
Jessica just recently updated the post because she went and visited Glock and his owner and they are doing quite well. The impact that the shelter and Jessica made on the family is immense, and Glock’s owner was beyond thankful.
We think more shelters need workers like Jessica, who give their time and resources to go above and beyond the call.
