Jon Stewart has always been known to be a man with good intentions. And now he’s continuing to prove just that.
The retired comedian, who was the host on The Daily Show for nearly two decades, may be retired now, but that doesn’t mean he’s not working on his other passions. He has been a sincere animal lover for a long time now.
Both he and his wife Tracey are both animal lovers, so they have pretty much transformed their family into a zoo over the last few years. What started out as the adoption of two rescue pigs turned into much more.

They soon went on to also adopt four dogs, three rabbits, two guinea pigs, two fish and one birth, and they’re essentially treated like children.
Tracey is such an advocate for animals, she is even the author of the book Do Unto Animals.
The family loves their animals so much, they decided to make a pretty big move with them.

Back in 2015, around when Jon retired from the show, they turned their 12-acre farm located at their home into a full-on Farm Sanctuary for many other abused animals of all kinds.
Farm Sanctuary, an advocacy group that cares for abused animals, already have three safe havens across the United States. Thanks to the Stewart Family, this was now going to be their fourth.
“We bought a farm in New Jersey with the intention of starting a farm sanctuary of our own with an educational center, but what I’m announcing tonight is that our farm is actually going to be the New Jersey branch of Farm Sanctuary,” Tracey said. “We’re going to build new advocates, new curious learners, and new leaders for this very important movement.”

She went on to add, “It’s one of those things like where after you give birth you forget about the pain. So right now I’m feeling really good and positive.”
Now, today, the farm is called Hockhockson Farm, and it is absolutely thriving. They already had a huge farm of animals four years ago, but it grew into something even bigger. Now with cows, sheep, goats, turkeys, and more, the big space of land is filled to the brim with animals who are now living a safe and healthy life.
Now we know what you are thinking: how do I volunteer? I want to meet Jon and help him with his chickens!
Unfortunately, they are not currently accepting any volunteers, and it is not open to the public. However, there are plenty of adorable photos of the animals having a ball on their farm, which you can find right here.

“As animal lovers, we can always do and be more for those who depend on us. When we make changes in our lives—whether big or small—that move us toward seeking compassion for others, we are moving in the right direction,” Tracey went on to say.
Back in 2015 when this whole mission, called “Do Unto Animals,” was just starting out, Gayle King stopped by the farm to talk to the family about their endeavors for CBS This Morning.
