This loyal dog waited by his late owner's bedside
This nearly broke my heart.

“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” – Josh Billings

Dogs are some of the most loyal animals on earth, along with cats and horses. In an article on Odyssey, Anthony Bentley said they are extremely loyal and they always show how much they care and appreciate their owners. Dogs will always give you love the moment you come home from work every day.

Once they’re bound to you, they will be with you forever.

Moose was a then-two-year-old Lab mix adopted by his dad from Eleventh Hour Rescue in Randolph, New Jersey. Unfortunately, his dad recently died from cancer. But Moose didn’t know it and he patiently waited by his bedside for him to come back.
“Moose sat patiently next to his dad’s hospital bed, waiting for him to return, not knowing that “Dad” had passed away,” Eleventh Hour Rescue posted on their Facebook page.
The volunteers at Eleventh Hour Rescue were heartbroken when they found out what happened and quickly took Moose into their shelter.

For them, it’s “once an Eleventh Hour dog, always an Eleventh Hour dog.”

“When the owner passes away, Eleventh Hour’s policy is we take the dogs back no matter what,” Linda Barish, an Eleventh Hour Rescue executive committee member told Good Morning America. “We never in a million years thought that this would happen.”

Although Moose was adopted from Eleventh Hour in New Jersey, Moose’s story really began to turn around when he was still in Georgia.

Moose was found tied to a railroad sign in front of an animal kill shelter in rural Georgia in August 2017. No one was interested in adopting him. And because he wasn’t getting adopted, he was in danger of getting euthanized due to overcrowding, which happens in most shelters.

Luckily, one of the shelter volunteers wanted better for Moose so they called up one of Eleventh Hour Rescue’s local partners for help.

And before he knew it, Moose was in a transport headed to Eleventh Hour Rescue in Randolph, New Jersey.
At his new shelter, everybody loved Moose. He made lots of friends with his happy personality and his love of life.

Everyone at Eleventh Hour worked hard to make sure Moose got adopted.

One day, their wishes were finally answered when Moose’s “future dad” walked into the shelter. They met and fell in love with each other. The rest was history.

Moose had finally had his home.

But no one could have predicted that just one year later, Moose would be back at Eleventh Hour Rescue once again when his dad died.

The photo of him standing next to a hospital bed went viral and was used to help Moose get adopted once again.

Eleventh Hour Rescue and their partner shelter, NorthStar Pet Rescue, posted on their Facebook walls so that Moose can go to his forever home.
“He is a 3-year-old Lab mix who is housebroken, adores kids, okay with dogs (pretty much neutral to them), not meant for a home with cats or birds. But people, boy, does he love them! So much so that Moose would do best in a home where he isn’t left at home alone all day long, he misses his people too much,” the ad said on both Facebook pages.

This was posted on a Monday.

Two days later, Eleventh Hour posted that, since going viral, they have received so many applications to become Moose’s future parents. “We are confident we will find Moose the perfect, loving, forever home he deserves!” they said on their Facebook page.

Three days later, on June 22, 2019, Eleventh Hour Rescue announced that Moose has been adopted by a wonderful family.

They had just picked them up and ready to love Moose for as long as they live.
