Rosie and Lilo are two animals who share a special bond.
When Rosie the kitten was only 2 weeks old, she was orphaned by her mother and discovered by the Bui sisters, Thoa, Thi, and Tram.
The Bui sisters have experience fostering and bottle-feeding animals, so when they see little Rosie living on the streets of San Jose, California, they know they have to do something.
The three sisters bring the kitten home with them, bottle feeding the tiny creature and encouraging her to breathe.
Luck is not on Rosieโs side, however, as the little kitten grows increasingly lethargic and still.
Cue Lilo, the sistersโ husky.
In an adorable display of affection, Lilo manages to coax Rosie towards her, protecting the kitten and allowing her to nestle into her side for hours.
Liloโs love and support spark a will to live in little Rosie, with the Bui sisters explaining on their blog:
โ[Rosie] drank every drop and nestled into Liloโs fur to sleep. When she awoke again, it was as if new life was breathed into this little kitten.โ
After this first night, Liloโs maternal instincts kick in as she allows little Rosie to suckle her, even stimulating the baby kitten to help her go to the washroom.
The Bui sisters explain, โLilo has always had an innate motherly instinct, but she really surprised us when she went full surrogate modeโฆ Lilo has never had puppies of her own and never will. But motherhood may just be her calling.โ
Under Liloโs watchful eye, Rosie continues to grow and flourish, ultimately growing into a fun-loving adult catโ a feat which may have been impossible without Liloโs tender, loving care.
Nowadays, Rosieโs story has come full circle.
Rosie is now giving the same love she received from Lilo to others, with the Bui sisters revealing that Rosie has adopted 9 orphaned kittens of her own. Hereโs a video of her meeting them.
The Bui sisters would like to remind others to follow Rosie and Liloโs example, writing:
โIf everyone loved the way Lilo & Rosie did, there would be no evil in this world. Their message to everyone: Love does not see wih the eyes, but with the heart!โ
