Cats and dogs are pretty funny creatures. At times they can actually be super smart, but sometimes they have moments that are just so silly, you have to wonder if they have the ability to be logical like, at all.
Something else we all know about these animals: they love food. They are fueled by meats and veggies, and treats pretty much serve as their main motivation for pretty much anything. Want to get a dog to sit? Sure, but you will have to feed them a piece of cheese first.
So, knowing that cats and dogs can be silly, and also knowing that they love food, YouTube personality MilkyBoki decided to host a little experiment.
He decided to sit down with his pets and feed them… Except he wasn’t feeding them regular food, he was feeding them invisible food. Yep, there was a plate on the table, but it was empty.
Needless to say, the pets’ reactions were absolutely priceless.
When he brought the empty plate over to the cat and dog, the animals lit up with excitement. They thought there was food on there and even licked the plate even though it was clean.
When there was a moment of confusion or when they would momentarily lose interest, the man would “pick up” a piece of invisible food and pretend to eat it himself. Whenever he did this, the animals would get worked up and check his hand for food.
Even when there is clearly nothing there, the pets continue to sniff the plate.
Sometimes the cat would walk away, but it would always come back to reevaluate the food situation.
The dog managed to stay pretty loyal and sat next to the man the entire time. At a few points, the dog would subtly beg for food. You know, the food that was not even there.
Whenever the man lifted up the fake piece of food to his face, the cat and dog would follow his hand eagerly. They would follow all the way to his face and then begin sniffing his face as if they were begging for a bite. Ah, a bite of that delicious air.
At one point, the man lifts his hand out to the dog as if he was feeding him actual food. The dog went for it and started licking his hand. Is the dog aware that he is not actually consuming any food? It is honestly hard to tell, but hey, as long he is happy.
Then he offers his hand out to the cat to see if it will bite, but it doesn’t. The cat gives the “food” a quick sniff and then walks away — it looks way more annoyed than the dog, who just comes off as more confused yet hopeful.
