There is nothing like the bond between horse and rider.

Throughout the ages, the deep trust that is gained from riding a horse is a connection that flows from both sides of the saddle.

A young child looks to a horse as a majestic creature.

The long flowing main, the elegant pride that they show when they strut around the world. It seems that many kids grow up wanting to ride and own a horse.

Many kids want a horse, but have absolutely no means to take care of a horse.

And even if they did have the means to house and feed a horse, itโ€™s not like their parents are able to make that a reality.

But letโ€™s take a closer look at a young lady who does have the means, she lives on a farm where they raise cattle. But still her parents wonโ€™t let her have a horse.

And thatโ€™s where she got creative.

A 15-year-old young lady from Laufen, in Southern Germany, desperately wanted a horse.

When her parents made it clear that they were not going to get one for her, she did something that was very imaginative.

What would be the best substitute for a horse? What well-behaved animal did she have access to that would obey commands?

Unlike what you might have expected, 15-year-old Regina Mayer found all of these characteristics in the face of a young cow they already had on their farm.

โ€œShe was really well behaved and walked normally,โ€ Mayer told the reporters that arrived at the farm to find out whether she could really ride a cow. โ€œBut after a couple of meters, she wanted me to get off! You could see that she got a bit nervous.โ€

It took a while the two to get used to each other.

That bond grew and now after two years to riding and training, Luna the cow can jump obstacles while Regina is saddled in.

It sure wasnโ€™t an easy task, but with a huge amount of determination and persistence, she did it.

At first, even her neighbors thought that what she was trying to do was quite strange.

โ€œAt first, I thought it was weird,โ€ one of Reginaโ€™s neighbors told the camera. โ€œA kid on a cow? I had to get used to it. But then I thought it was pretty fun,โ€ he admitted.

However successful she may have been with Lunaโ€™s training, Regina hasnโ€™t yet given up the thought of a real horse.

She still wants to get one, but she assures everyone that Luna will always be her favorite.

Now, you might think this story is crazy, but what would you say if we told you that Luna is not the only one who has tried to turn a cow into a show pony?

Well, a few years ago, Georgia Auricht, a 12-year old from the Kulgera Police Station, decided to turn to a cow for riding when she was denied a horse by her parents. Georgia worked hard to break in several cows and calves which she had taken to several shows.

โ€œI first started with a milk crate trying to get on their back, then I started with a motorbike helmet, then a push bike helmet, and finally I got on the back and I started rounding them up and hopping on their back and I just trained them,โ€ she said.

Now, some might be wondering if riding a cow is safe for the animals since they were not made to be ridden.

According to the RSPCA, cow riding is potentially harmful to the animals.

โ€œWeโ€™d be worried about any potential damage to her udders. Riding a cow is definitely not something weโ€™d recommend,โ€ they told The Guardian.

In any case, this is an uncommon sight and it is kind of fun to watch, exactly because it is so rare.
