Friendship is one of life’s most amazing gifts. Through it, we get to understand the only way that we can be happy: being with people we love and care for. In other words, being around people who we consider as our friends.

Kelsey Belflower Ketcheside, who was blessed enough to find the truest of friends at such a very young age, got reminded of the incredible power of friendship when she met three lovely girls who were also the best of friends. It was a truly magical moment that opened her eyes to the beauty of what friendship is all about.

Everything started years ago when Kelsey found out that she was pregnant with her first child. She later learned that two of her best friends were also pregnant at the same time. What’s even more exciting was the fact that all three of them were going to have girls!

“We all happened to be pregnant at the same time,” Kelsey wrote in a Facebook post. “To make it even more fun, we were so excited to find out we were all having girls! We talked about how they would grow up and be friends like us, hang out, tell each other everything.”

The three moms-to-be gave birth within three months from each other. And, just as they predicted, all three of their daughters also grew up to be best friends. The girls would usually hang out with each other, have sleepovers frequently and attend the same school. The bond between them is like that of sisters!

As a photographer, Kelsi just could not pass up the chance to immortalize the incredible bond between the young ladies by means of conducting a “best friends photo shoot”. The results she got were nothing short of fantastic!

The girls were photographed side by side each other, and it was the most amazing thing to see! They might be different in appearance, but the genuine friendship that they found in each other is what makes them practically identical!

The little girls were promised with an ice cream date after the shoot and with that in mind, their photos became even more exquisite because of how this simple promise had made them joyful . They were giggling all the time and they were totally having fun all throughout the shoot. The emotions that they exude in the photos were totally inspiring and beautiful.

When Kelsi asked them why they were giggling, the answer she got blew her away.

“How can you even tell us apart? We are barefoot and wearing the exact same dress, and we literally look the same! We’re twins!”

Through those simple words, Kelsi realized just how precious real friendship can be. She totally agreed with the girls and decided to share this realization on social media.

“What does the outside matter?” she wrote. “What does status or money or clothes or fame or popularity or career matter? I was reminded this week that none of it does.”

Being with the girls gave Kelsi a better perspective at how friendship should be like, and that is by seeing the things that make us more similar than different. In fact, these girls have already figured this out at such a young age!

Despite the obvious difference in appearance, race and all other divisions that keep us from being one and the same, we must all remember that we are still part of one race: the human race. And as humans who live by the truest sense of this word, we are all connected and similar with each other because what we all want is love, peace and joy.

We have more things in common than what we think. Instead of focusing on what makes us different from each other, why don’t we focus on the things that bind us together? We all have our own stories but let’s not forget that we are all in this life together. Always remembering this reality is something that we should all do because that is how we’ll always end up becoming friends rather than becoming enemies.
