Get healthy with garlic.

There are numerous reasons why garlic is a favorite across the globe. According to BBC goodfood, its “usage predates written history,” with people turning to garlic as a trusted remedy for ailments and overall physical health.

Here’s an interesting tidbit. Legend has it, Egyptian slaves were given garlic daily to help keep them fit and healthy while building the pyramids.

When it comes to how garlic’s good for the body, frankly, it might be easier to explain what garlic “can’t do.” On the WebMD site, they say it helps with major issues like heart conditions, all the way to treating smaller ones like fever, fatigue, and body pain.

WebMD also explained:

“Garlic produces a chemical called allicin. This is what seems to make garlic work for certain conditions. Allicin also makes garlic smell. Some products are made “odorless” by aging the garlic, but this process can also make the garlic less effective.”

Now that we have a little background on garlic, who’s ready to start growing?

In the video below from Home & Garden, they teach us a brilliant way to grow garlic ourselves. It requires just a few basic supplies like garlic bulbs, empty plastic water bottles, and an iron. Eventually, you’ll need pots and soil too.

First, cut off the top of the water bottles (just beneath the neck).

Now, take each bottle and carefully melt the cut end using a heated iron until a rounded edge has formed. Just be sure to watch the demonstration beforehand!

The next step is to fill the bottles with water. Then, place a single bulb on top of each one. It should look like the photo below.

All you have to do at this point is patiently wait. Eventually, growth will take place and you’ll see green shoots on top and roots underneath.

When they appear ready (the video provides a good visual), it will be time to transplant the garlic into soil-filled pots. Separate the cloves and plant them individually in the soil. Water and wait for more growth!

The video’s lesson ends at that point, but it seems like a pretty easy (and unique) method for growing garlic at home. More than 8.8 million people have watched it on YouTube.

Just think of all you could do with the garlic! From spicing up your dishes to treating ailments and building your health, it’s a superfood with many benefits.

One person addressed the fact that some people questioned why you wouldn’t just plant the bulb in the ground. They said:

“I’ve tried planting directly into the soil n i tell u. This might look like wasting time but its much more effective. Dont judge until u tried it folks.”
