Many people are surely hoping that the holidays will still be the same, even amid the pandemic. It doesn’t have to be grand just like before, though.
The most important thing about this festive season is to be with our loved ones.
It’s also the same when it comes to gift-giving.
Gifts do not have to be unfathomably expensive, the latest tech, or a pain in the tuchus to come by. Really, most people just want to know that you thought of them, and the best way to get that point across is by giving them a gift that took something far more valuable than your money to get- your time!
What matters most is always the thought behind that present. So if you badly want to give something special to the people you love but it’s out of your budget, this DIY tutorial will be a big help, and making these is a lot more fun than braving the Christmas shopping stampede at your local big box stores.
The best part? You likely already have everything you need to hand!
It’s actually perfect for the kids.
It’s a teddy bear that’s made from a hand towel.
I tell you what, it’s very easy to make.
A YouTuber who goes by Seddi shared the step-by-step tutorial and here are the materials that you’ll need:
- Rubber bands (1 rubber band is good for 1 teddy bear)
- Hand towels
- Strings such as embroidery floss
- Ribbon (This is for teddy’s necktie)
What’s fun about this is you can choose any color for these materials. Just mix and match the colors of the towels and the ribbon.
With Seddi, she used a purple hand towel and yellow ribbon for the teddy’s necktie. With the other teddy bear that she made, she used a white towel and green ribbon.
Here’s the procedure:
Lay your towel on a flat surface.
You’ll need a flat surface so you could do the rolling and folding smoothly.
Roll both sides of the towel to the middle.
There is no required count as to how many times you’ll need to roll each side. It just needs to be done equally so it will be like this:
Next, you’ll need to fold the towel in half.
This is also the time to form the bear’s head. Make sure that the upper part is shorter than the bottom part. Assume that it’s the head of the teddy.
Then, put a rubber band in the middle part to emphasize the form of the teddy’s head and the body.
To form the teddy’s ears, use the embroidery floss.
Just tie each side to form a circle to make them look like ears.
After all of these simple steps, get your ribbon for the finishing touch.
Tie a ribbon bow on the bear’s neck. You can use a long ribbon and just cut the bottom of it once you’re done with the bow.
Here’s the finished product:
This project is undoubtedly easy to create. If you want to make a bigger version of this, Seddi also posted a tutorial on how to make it. You can watch the whole tutorial here.
You’ll need pretty much the same materials but just bigger ones.
Amazingly, you can make these cute bears without spending too much. It’s adorable and practical at the same time. For sure, the people who receive these gifts from you will be really happy. Just the thought that you would create it by yourself is something to appreciate.
