Like wine, some things only get better with age, but you might not expect one those things to actually be a commercial. Especially a commercial for an IT company.
One commercial, made over 16 years ago, has gone viral after being rediscovered by the internet. Thanks to some creative minds at EDS (Electronic Data Systems), we have this amazing commercial to show you, just in case you need a good laugh.
It’s not often that you find a commercial funny or even enjoyable, until of course this one.
The commercial begins with a young cowboy talking about his great grandfather being the first herder in their family. Touching story, right? Well, his great grand-dad was not just any herder, but a cat herder. Yep, you read that correctly.
What appears to be an idyllic scene of the country takes a bit of a strange turn when suddenly the cowboys are seen herding – you guessed it – cats.
“Anybody can herd cattle, but holding together ten thousand half-wild shorthairs – well that’s another thing all together,” says one cowboy in the most iconic line of the video.
In the screenshot above, you can see a cowboy patiently rolling up an entire ball of yarn. Throughout the video, other golden moments are hidden, like one man using a lint roller on his leather vest to get off any unwanted cat hair. Another scene, shown below, depicts two men trying in vain to get a couple of cats down from some desert trees.
Perhaps the most surprising part of the entire commercial is that it was actually for an IT company, called EDS.
Who would have thought that cat-herding and IT management was so similar? Apparently this Texas-based company.
When it comes to cat herding, you definitely do not want to try this at home since most cats are very resistant to being herded unwillingly. However, if done correctly, cats can be trained like dogs to perform some tricks – but you will have to be extremely patient since cats are known for their independence and exerting their free will.
For your own safety, you might just want to let your cat sleep – the cowboys certainly show that cats can be very wily creatures. Be sure to check out the full video in the link down below, and show it to all of your cat-loving friends!
