Most of us remember playing cowboys and Indians as kids. If not involved in that game, we were pretending to be cops who caught bad buys. But what about being cowboys who helped cops arrest someone. Nope…We never played that game. But that’s something that happened in real life.

The great thing about the internet is that we can view all kinds of crazy videos. After uploading what’s being called the “cowboy arrest,” this video quickly went viral. So far, it’s been viewed more than 230,000 times on Facebook alone. Then considering it’s been shared nearly 6,000 times and had hundreds of people leave comments, you have to imagine it’s pretty cool.

The story unfolds in Las Vegas, Nevada.

We all know that Las Vegas is a place where excitement happens. But on December 11, people witnessed a different type of excitement, something considered bizarre even for this city. At approximately 1:30 p.m., not far from the Sam’s Town hotel and casino, a strange event began to unfold.

Very quickly, all hell broke loose.

The main cowboy in this story is Cayden Cox. Not only is he a bona fide cowboy but also a professional cattle roper. He first spots a helicopter flying overhead. That’s when he realized something big must be going down. He goes on to explain, “And right when I thought about that, 18 cop cars came barreling down this road right next to the arena.”

Cops from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department see a car they believed was stolen.

At that point, the cops gave chase in an attempt to stop the driver. As the driver did his best to allude officers, he hit a horse trailer close to Horseman’s Park. Next, all three of the individuals inside the car tried to make a run for it.

Cox’s cowboy instincts kicked in.

He said, “I’m like, oh shoot we need to go catch the son of a buck. So, I come running down through there and I almost knocked over this older gentleman and I felt bad but I got to them and right when I got to him but they all followed me we’re like 60 guys behind us.” [sic]

One of the individuals in the stolen vehicle thought jumping a fence would help him get away.

But as it turns out, he was wrong. As the guy cuts across the fairgrounds, a bunch of cowboys threatened to do what they do best…lasso the dude. “By the time I kind of had my rope up and the suspect had his hands up, right when I was thinking about roping him,” Cox stated.

The man filming the entire incident had an incredible view.

He said that when the cowboys pulled out their ropes, followed by all these cops, the driver of the car quickly dropped to his knees. That’s when some of the cowboys pinned the buy to the ground. They didn’t have to wait long before the cops show up, taking the suspect into custody.

For Cox, the best part of the story came from the person flying the helicopter. Using his sound system, the pilot yelled down to the cowboys, “Good job ropers!” Along with all three of the guys being apprehended, Cox said this made the day for a lot of diehard cowboys.
