Photo breaks the internet after ranger snap photo of bear refusing abadon cub
What a sad reality, hopefully this type of attention call efforts change the world for better.

There is a reason people refer to bears as “nature’s best moms”! There isn’t anything a mama bear wouldn’t do for their cub and if you find yourself between her and her babies, you might want to move.

They are admired for their fierceness and brute strength. These same qualities are what make the grizzly bear an extremely protective animal mother. While they are protective, they are also caring – just like this story shows.

A mother would never intentionally leave their baby behind. For one mama bear in Yosemite National Park, it ended up getting her on the news. It’s a sad example of humans getting in the way of the natural order of things and who feels the consequences of it.

A Yosemite Ranger posted a photo of a mama bear standing over her cub.

The reason? The little cub was struck by a car and died on the side of the road. The mama bear dragged the little body off to the side, hoping it would wake up. Hour after hour the bear sat by the body of her lifeless child, hoping he would wake up.

“It’s been nearly six hours and she still hasn’t given up on her cub,” the ranger explained. “I can just imagine how many times she darted back and forth on that road in attempts to wake it. It’s extremely lucky that she wasn’t hit as well.” – Today

The ranger explained how the mother was clearly stricken with grief.

The poor mama was letting out her version of crying, a “deep-toned but soft-sounding grunt” that she was hoping would wake up her baby. As time went on, the mama got more desperate with her calls until the ranger moved in to help.

They moved the little body away from the road and set up a camera to show the scene.

Since the mother was threatening her own safety by running in the road, they moved the little body further into the woods. Normally, that’s all they do, but today they did something different. Taking a camera, they set it up so they could record the sad scene.

“Quickly, I set up a remote camera. Why? Every year we report the number of bears that get hit by vehicles, but numbers don’t always paint a picture,” they explained. “I want people to see what I saw: the sad reality behind each of these numbers.”

With tens of thousands of shares, it’s clear that the plan to spread awareness worked. The growing numbers needed a real-life video that could help slow people down when driving in the park.

“It’s not just bears that face the danger of being hit by a vehicle on roads within Yosemite National Park,” the post reads. “Owls, Pacific fishers, butterflies, rare amphibians like red-legged frogs and salamanders; and mammals like deer, foxes, and mountain lions are also often hit and killed on Yosemite’s roads.”
