Life’s journeys often seem impossible when we first step on the path. It’s not until years later when we look back on them that we realize just how much they prepared us! The challenges of last year are the foundation for the next.

One video shows one of the biggest challenges that we all face at one point or another (as a baby).

To a baby, everything is a struggle! We have to think about it from a baby’s perspective, though. Every time something happens, it’s literally the worst thing to ever happen to them! When a baby gets cold, it’s probably the coldest it’s ever been in its entire life! It’s only when it gets older that a baby learns to communicate and experiences challenges greater than losing their blanket.

This video shows one of those little journeys that we all have been on!

In the video, one baby girl was resolute that she wanted to crawl over to the family dog. This isn’t a big deal for an adult and is simply a reach and a pat on the head. For a baby, however, the few feet between them was a massive gap that would take forever to traverse. Six feet is a mile for a baby!

Babies learn to crawl around 7-9 months.

Babies first learn to crawl by rocking back and forth. Over time, they realize that their momentum can be used to throw themselves forward and then catching themselves. We call that “crawling”! Seeing your baby crawl for the first time is almost as exciting as hearing them say “mama”.

“At 6 months old, babies will rock back and forth on hands and knees. This is a building block to crawling. As the child rocks, he may start to crawl backward before moving forward. By 9 months old, babies typically creep and crawl.” – Help Me Grow

From the first look we can tell that this little one was new to crawling.

With the classic rocking, she starts making her wobbly way to the other side of the room to her waiting friend. She lurches, lunges, and squeals her way there, prize in sight. Soon, her efforts will be all worth it as she gets to play with her furry friend. As she gets closer, the dog even takes notice of the scene!

Like a gentle guardian, the dog watches the little girl slowly make her way over to her.

The moment finally arrived. With a collapse, the girl falls right in front of the dog – but there’s still room to crawl! She might have forever been stuck if it wasn’t for her rescuer – the pup! Leaning over, the black lab lifts his muzzle and gives his little friend a lick right on the noggin. Mission accomplished.

In a moment of pure cuteness, the dog recognizes the little girl’s efforts and rewards her for it.

Like an old friend, the dog understands how gently to treat a baby! Ignoring its toy, it simply lifts its head and gifts a little lick on the tip of the baby’s nose. Like a friend greeting a friend, the moment is like something out of a story! The family filming the entire thing (as well as the entire internet) had their hearts melted.

Some random “no-names” on the internet tried to get upset that they allowed their dog near their baby like this, but their response was awesome.

This is their comment on having their dog near their baby:

*Please note this is our very affectionate 8-1/2 years old female Chocolate Lab. She is advanced obedience trained, has been enthralled with people (children & adults) her entire life, and always follows a multitude of voice commands. We’ve had our dog since she was 10 weeks old – she is active, healthy, neither possessive nor guarding, nurtured/loved every day, and as a result is a very well-adjusted family canine. Nevertheless, as responsible parents, we researched, spent months acclimating both the baby and the dog together prior to this special moment, and we always have, and continue to closely supervise all interactions between our baby and lifelong family pet. We believe our dog to be a wonderful part of our child’s young development (as you see here crawling early!) but advise all parents to do to their fact-finding research, consult professionals with any questions or concerns, and always follow the advice of the experts (pediatricians, veterinarians, and certified dog trainers) before placing a child and dog together in any scenario in or outside the home. Thank you all so much for your sincere and wonderful support! With our Warmest Regards:)
