Many of us are raised to give back to those in need. We’re taught that when we are accomplished, we should reach back and uplift others around us.

Whether it’s back to our own communities or other areas that we see could use the help, it’s our actions that count.

Diesel Pippert is leading by supreme example.

Pippert, a 7th grader at Western Reserve Schools in Huron County, Ohio, is one of those people who gave to others when he was in the position to do so.

Pippert earned $15,000 after auctioning a pig at the Huron County Fair. He then took those earnings and donated them to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for cancer research.

How did a 12-year-old decide on such a big decision?

Pippert’s mother, Erin Sanders revealed that he got the idea from a teen in a county nearby who auctioned off a hog for $11,000 and donated the profits to a non-profit children’s hospital in Memphis.

Before Pippert began the auction, he told the crowd what his plans were for the money he would earn. The bidding started at $500 and ended at the generous amount of $15,000.

His mother hopes that he donates the money he earns from his auctions every year from now on.

Pippert is no stranger to the fair. He’s been auctioning off livestock since he was 9 years old.

The family intends to visit the hospital in Memphis to give out toys and games to pediatric patients.

His school was so proud and impressed with his actions, they posted on Facebook about his good deed on their page.

A portion of it reads:

“A young man lives amongst us who should be an example to us all.”

“His donation of $15,000 will help to find cures for young children and save lives. Diesel, you are a hero!”

A hero indeed!

The school updated its posting to share that Pippert’s deed was so inspiring that it motivated others to inquire about ways in which they themselves could donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The school added a direct link to those interested in following in Pippert’s steps.

The post now has over 3,000 reactions and almost 2,000 shares.

The comment section is full of support for the young man. Here are a few:

“What an awesome young man and a great example for the younger kids to look up to! So proud of you! Your parents must be so happy to have you for a son. God bless you!”

“As the Grandmother of a little boy who was at St Judes I want to thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and caring..what a wonderful..unselfish thing to do… God Bless You!!!”

“Diesel, you are such a witness to the goodness and love within us all if we just take time to look for it! Thank you, thank you thank you for being such an inspiration!”

These comments are just a small portion of the 500 and counting comments that have been pouring in commending the young man.

The photo that Pippert’s parents allowed the media to share shows a very serious young man. One look at the photo and you can tell that he is someone who means what he says. He’s shown this to be true when he stated his goal and went out to achieve it. He dedicated his time to accomplish this goal and even inspired others as a result.

Clearly, this young man is about his business.

Keep climbing, Diesel!
