Most adults will admit to waking up to a fair few strange or ugly sights after having one too many drinks the night before, but youโve probably never opened your eyes to discover a wild animal in your room.
A disturbingly large insect? Maybe. But not a disturbingly large coyote.
Bonnie Moriarty is one of the few people in the world who can say sheโs hung out with a coyote in her bedroom, and it definitely wasnโt intentional.

It was about 4:15 in the morning when Bonnie was awoken by what she assumed was a catfight.
She jumped to the conclusion that her dog and her cat had decided to let loose on one another in the early hours of the morning, typical dog and cat style.

But then something ran into her roomโฆ and she realized it wasnโt her dog.
Sharing her story with CBS17, Bonnie recalled:
โAnd the coyote came running into my room. Itโs still dark.โ

Bonnie, who could hardly believe what she was seeing, grabbed a nearby gold club for protection. She was facing this bizarre threat all alone, as her husband was out of town at the time.
Bonnie continued:
โMy poor kids are upstairs, and Iโm screaming.โ

Looks kinda cute, doesnโt he?
Thatโs because coyotes are species of canine, so they look a little dog-like. Theyโre completely wild, though, and much more closer to the wolf than the dog, so trying to pet one isnโt a good idea.
The coyote had come out of a patch of woodland behind Bonnieโs back yard. Though her miniature schnauzer put up a good fight, the poor coyote must have realized his huge mistake, and could only cower timidly in the corner.

It was only then that Bonnie was faced with the truth: she had a coyote stuck in her bedroom.
With her kids awake and acting as moral support, Bonnie shut the bedroom door and proceeded to make perhaps the most unusual 911 call her local police had ever received.

Three officers arrived with a โstick with a little loopโ, according to Bonnie, and crowded in her bedroom, trying to get the coyote out.
Using the catcher poles, they managed to get two of the loops around the coyoteโs neck, then took him out into the back yard to free him.

So, the coyote lived to see another day โ but the big question is, how did he get inside in the first place?
Thinking back to the nightโs events, Bonnie said she thought he might have got in through her home through her back door after chasing her cat, saying:
โHeโd somehow just lunged at the door and the door had opened.โ

Lunging or no lunging, it shouldnโt be so simple for a coyote โ or anything else for that matter โ to get into your home!
This unusual incident will have definitely reminded Bonnie of the importance of home security. Especially as coyotes will eat pretty much anything, including livestock and pets, so it sounds like Bonnieโs cat and dog had a lucky escape.

Whatโs the weirdest thing youโve had get into your home? It probably doesnโt have a patch on this!
