Woman Opposes Traffic Ticket And Judge’s Verdict Creates Humor
When the judge started to read her case, he immediately smirked at the details of the ticket. The more he spoke, the more he got everyone in the room laughing – including the defendant. I’m not sure what the traffic cop was thinking – but it sure made for a very funny court case.

Chief Judge Frank Caprio has seen a lot of interesting cases in his courtroom over the years. However, some are just too funny not to laugh at.

One day a defendant named Sarah showed up to fight a parking ticket she had received. After the woman gave the story behind it – no one was able to keep a straight face.

Judge Caprio isn’t your typical judge.

Not only does he have a large following because of his TV show, Caught in Providence, which features real-life cases – but he has a humorous side as well. On top of that, he’s known for showing compassion towards the residents who walk into his courtroom.

Caprio told CBS News in an interview:

“I don’t wear a badge under my robe. I wear a heart under my robe.”

Get ready for the case of the guilty car clock.

Sarah didn’t think she deserved the ticket a parking enforcement officer had issued her. So, she took it to Judge Caprio hoping to have it dismissed.

But first – he needed the facts. Sarah had illegally parked in an area where it clearly stated, “No Parking 8-10.”

This is a very common situation. People every day, in every city, close their eyes to “no parking” signs and just hope that they fly under the radar.

Yet, Sarah’s case seemed a little bit different. When the judge looked at his notes, he couldn’t help but seem surprised by what time the ticket had been issued.

Sarah told the court:

“I literally pulled up at 9:58.”

Well, technically she had broken the law because it was before 10:00. This is why the enforcement officer wrote out the ticket…at 9:59.

In the video, Judge Caprio points out that it wasn’t even JUST 9:59. It was 9:59 and 58 seconds.

The people in the courtroom chuckled at what had happened (Sarah must have some pretty bad luck). Even the judge and Inspector Quinn saw the humor in the matter.

Yet, it was the defendant herself that was belly-laughing most of all.

As we know, there’s usually “someone” to blame for everything that goes wrong. In this case, however, it was “something” that made Sarah disobey the law.

Through laughter she explained to the judge:

“My car clock said 10!”

Excuses, excuses. Judge Caprio jokingly fired back:

“Oh, now you’re blaming the car clock!”

Would it be enough to get Sarah out of her ticket? Inspector Quinn is asked his opinion on the subject – and if the defendant should get some jail time.

He hilariously replies:

“10 o’clock means 10 o’clock, Judge. My father taught me that growing up.”

Fortunately for Sarah, Judge Caprio decided to utilize his compassionate side that day. He ordered the case to be dismissed.

It’s a clip that’s so funny and lighthearted it’s been watched more than 2.8 million times. People have been commenting about it on YouTube.

One person pointed out:

“I feel like I’m watching a late show. Co-host and everything. For real though, we need more judges like this.”

Another viewer added a little “clock” tip:

“That’s why I always update my clock to the standard time based on the internet. they are pretty much on point. I learned this lesson from my former military employer who is pretty much on time.”
