When 2020 rolled around it seemed like a perfect time to tie the knot, but with COVID-19 had changed that plan, postponing the wedding to 2021. After a night of fun and love, Louise’s biggest nightmare had become reality. She was woken up to one of her friends saying,

“Louise, wake up. It’s Rogie, he’s had an accident. Let’s go now, he’s hurt his head.”

Louise woke up paralyzed with fear and asked what had happened, and her friend explained,

“Rogie fell down the stairs and was knocked out”

They rushed to the hospital and Rogie was in critical condition in the ICU, and because of COVID-19, they weren’t allowed to go in and see him.

They were later allowed to see him dressed in full PPE. Louise explained,

“I remember seeing the love of my life on a hospital bed in a neck brace, wires, and machines coming out of him. It was like a horror movie but it was real. I collapsed on him and cried like I never cried in my life.”

The doctor informed Louise that Rogie had a catastrophic brain injury and there was no way to stop the severe bleeding. Louise had to gain the strength to tell her two sons what was going on which is beyond heart-breaking.

That hospital could have been filled with tears and it still wouldn’t have been enough. When the ICU consultant informed Louise that Rogie was officially brain dead, she knew if she was really going to lose him she was going to marry him. So she expressed to the ICU about being wed in the hospital and they arranged a Chaplin to come in and marry them. Louise put on a white dress and held her darling Rogie, they were finally married.

“Their daddy was an angel in heaven that would always be there, looking after and guiding us.”
