When you lose something thatโs dear to you, it can really break your heart. The mystery of where that beloved item went always seems to linger on your mindโฆ
An English woman named Paula Walter lost one of the most important pieces of jewelry she could ever own. Her wedding ring.

That precious band never left her mind even after 40 years! I mean, how could you ever forget something that near and dear to your heart?
Paula now 65-years-old, lost her wedding band in 1983 just shortly after she married her husband Joe whoโs now 73-years-old.

It all happened when Paula was playing catch with her son outside of their home in Plymouth, Devonโฆ
As they were playing in the garden, her treasured wedding ring flew right off of her finger.

Paula immediately panicked and started searching high and low throughout the garden to find her darling wedding band. But no sign of her shiny ring.
Paula wasnโt going to give up easily though, she even brought out a metal detector to search the garden for her ring.

Even with her committed hunt, there was still no sign of her wedding ring. Paula was heartbroken that she lost her beautiful 18-carat gold band. She didnโt even have it long enough to flash it around town to her friends and family.
But really Paula just wanted the irreplaceable piece of jewelry that her husband bought her for their wedding day.

As time went on, of course, Paula still had her wedding ring in the back of her mind. The rings got to be somewhere in the garden! But where? Paula explained how she never wanted to give up the search saying,
โMy house backs onto woodland and I thought possibly that the ring flew in there. I thought it was gone forever. Over the yearsโwhenever weโve been in the garden or out thereโIโve always said โhave a look for the ring,โ but we never found it.โ
Still no luckโฆ Until just last month Paula got the surprise of a lifetime.

She hired a local landscaping company, Man For All Seasons, to come revamp their garden just a few days before her and her husband Joeโs 40th wedding anniversary. Even though the garden had been dug up plenty of times in the past, Paula still felt inclined to tell the landscapers all about her missing ring. So the landscaping crew kept that in mind and went to work.
Thatโs when Paula got called out to the garden for a very shocking discoveryโฆ They found her wedding ring in the garden!

โThey called me out into the garden a while later saying they had a surprise for me and then handed me my wedding ring, It was in the garden where I was standing and where I had been playing ball with my son all those years ago. I was so shocked but incredibly grateful. Itโs wonderful to have it back.โ Paula explained
She never lost hope in finding her cherished wedding ring and thankfully she told the landscapers to keep an eye out.
After 40 years Paula finally gets to wear her wedding ring again.

Thatโs what you call the greatest anniversary gift of all time!
