I have an intense fear of birds. Some people think it is irrational, but I disagree. When you are walking in the New York City streets, you never know which way theyโre going to fly. Even worse, you never when theyโre going to โnumber twoโ while flying over your head.
However, despite this great fear of mine, I would never do what these rich people have done to birds in Bristol. While itโs scary, itโs not their fault. Itโs just part of their nature.
Residents in this specific area of Bristol are quite wealthy, and so they have cars that reflect their financial status.
Thatโs all good and fine until birds come and do their business on top of the cars, since they often park in front of buildings.
Of course, the birds donโt care too much about people, but these people were sick of scraping bird stool off their precious BMWs and Range Rovers.
So, the residents found a way to combat this. Whether or not itโs a good ideaโฆ Well, thatโs up to you.
A lot of buildings have spikes on their rooftops to make sure birds donโt sit on them, but these rich people had the idea to install those same spikes on two trees near their cars.

Naturally, Animalsโ Rights Activists were enraged and shot back with pure anger. After all, how could birds not be allowed to sit on trees? They demanded the spikes be removed.
Environmentalist Jennifer Garrett responded on Twitter: โOur war on wildlife: now birds are not allowed in treesโฆ?! Pigeon spikes spotted in Clifton, Bristol above a car park. Has anyone seen this before? How is it allowed?!โ

The wealthy people who spiked the trees shared that this action was purely driven by the love of their cars. Unfortunately, there just happens to be a ton of birds in this one specific area where all the cars are.
Other efforts to scare the birds away were made, like a wooden bird of prey, but they did not work.
Itโs inconvenient to constantly have to scrape bird poop off your car, especially if itโs a particularly โniceโ car. But isnโt it much more barbaric to hurt the feet of innocent birds, who of course are just trying to live their natural lives? And why bother the trees?
