Once upon a time, there was a glorious place that you could reasonably reach in most suburban and urban areas. This place was called Pizza Hut and their pizza was delicious.
Was it the best pizza? That’s up for debate. The highest quality pizza? You be the judge. But its crust was golden and buttery and it was topped with enough cheese to stretch from your mouth to your slice when you bit into it.
It was a wonderful sometimes indulgence that you would head to with your family and friends on Friday nights, after little league games, before school concerts, and other non-fancy celebratory occasions.

These were glorious times. But, over the years Pizza Huts began to disappear from our neighborhoods.
According to CNBC, Pizza Hut filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2020 and will close 300 of its locations and put its remaining 927 locations up for sale as part of a deal between the Yum Brands chain and its largest U.S. franchisee, NPC International.
So friends, if you’re able to get your hands on that golden cheesy goodness one last time, consider yourself lucky. Many of their iconic hut-shaped buildings still exist today and have hilariously been transformed into new establishments. Let’s take a look…
Here are 15 awkward looking businesses that used to be Pizza Huts.
1) A Different Kind of Pizza.
Well, it is still pizza – but with a sandwich on the side.
2) The Custard Hut
Props for keeping it a hut and just switching up the color palette. I would like to enjoy some custard from this hut.
3) Chinese Restaurant
I mean, this actually kind of works. The hut is reminiscent of Chinese Imperial architecture.
4) Bail Bonds
Who doesn’t want to enter a cheerful-looking building when they’re trying to “Get out of jail fast!”
@UTBAPH Bail bonds are in higher demand than Pizza Hut in Jonesboro, Georgia, apparently. pic.twitter.com/OA0KCKr1YX

5) HSBC Bank
Does this bank have a salad bar?
6) Funeral Home in Navasota, TX
This would make a lot of sense if they offered pizza at funeral homes. Pizza is one of those things that are good for consoling a sad heart.
7) Copycat in California, PA
It’s a cat and a hut that’s in California, Pennsylvania. A lot of things going on here.
8) Asian Express
Honestly, this is so adorable. Best conversion so far!
9) ClearChoice MD
Is going to an Urgent Care at a former Pizza Hut a really clear choice though? I’m sure it’s perfectly professional on the inside but on the outside… not so much. I guess looks aren’t so important when you’re trying to heal sick people though.
10) TitleMax Title Loan
At least they tried to make it look a little different with that front addition.
11) Bud Hut in Walsenburg, CO
Now, this makes perfect sense.

12) Mike Hurley, Mayor
Is he the mayor of Munchkinland or something? Because that would be awesome and this would make way more sense.
13) Boston Market
I’m actually buying this. It doesn’t just look like a Pizza Hut with lipstick on.

14) Chicken Finger Hut
If it can’t be a Pizza Hut, it might as well be a place dedicated to chicken fingers.
A whole restaurant dedicated to chicken fingers. God is smiling upon us. https://t.co/9cWna9s60C

15) Naughty Hut
This Pizza Hut took a very dark, adult turn.

And that, my friends, is what came of our beloved Pizza Huts. Our Pizza Huts may be gone but the memories we had of them and the good times we shared in them will live on in our hearts forever.
Thank you Pizza Hut, we love you.
I leave you with this Australian Pizza Hut commercial from the 80s.
