Emerald Belles dance troupe shakes things up in contest with high kick line

June 22nd, 2021

There’s just something extra special about watching a dance group execute a flawless show.

From perfectly timed choreography to incredible flexibility, it’s next to impossible to pull your eyes from the dance floor. While this is impressive even for your average group of 5 to 10 members, imagine what it would be like to see an incredible dance pulled off with dozens of light-footed leapers.

This group of 70-100 girls is known as the Emerald Belles and they’re the biggest drill team in the U.S.

But enough talk—we’re eager to know what it all looks like.

The team is from Southlake, Texas and they’ve been competing for over 23 years under Melissa Page.

The team has won many state, national and international titles. The performance we’re seeing here is their 2017 show from the Crowd Pleasers Dance Area Competition.

It’s the annual competition in Houston, Texas which wouldn’t have been the same if these talented girls weren’t part of it.

The goal is to entertain the audience and make them feel the rhythm.

There’s no question everyone was feeling every bit of it with this performance.

The concept of the dance was “Sweet Dreams,” and there were 80 girls dancing on the floor.

Their eye-catching, skin-colored costumes make you feel as if you were really in a dream and many dancing silhouettes are floating in front of your eyes.

With the sound of “Sweet Dreams” in the background, all dancers came to the stage and took their initial positions.

The beginning is graceful, attractive, and a little slow, but things explode from that moment on.

The rhythm gets faster, and you get the idea of why the performance is nicknamed “High kick.” The entire time, it seems like their legs are reaching for the ceiling!

These girls practiced this to perfection.

We’re not even sure if we can pinpoint the best part of the video, but here is an unforgettable moment: the way they form a circle, and then move hands, one by one, with perfect timing. It’s around the first minute of the video, and we were awestruck.

Their moves were so perfect that it’s hard to sum up with words!

The thing we liked a lot is that their costumes all had black lines on them, which makes it even easier to follow every move. It makes every girl distinctive, and each one has her own little spotlight. The result is true teamwork on display.

This group went from competing on Season 14 of America’s Got Talent to dancing in the Dallas Mavericks’ halftime show.

The girls made it through three rounds on America’s Got Talent.

They were also featured live on NBC in the quarterfinals from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

They were also entertainment or special guests on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Good Morning Texas, Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, and many more.
