Ads were made to reach out to the majority of people. It aims to get the attention of its target audience. While most brands would focus on being flawlessly beautiful, Ulta Beauty made sure that they would literally reach out to touch lives and show what real beauty is.
Meet Maren Anderson, a beautiful 4-year old girl that has a rare disease that was caused by a gene mutation. This caused her to have EIEE or in early infantile epileptic encephalopathy, SCA or spinocerebellar ataxia, and PCH or pontocerebellar hypoplasia. Maren uses a wheelchair and as she grows up, she learns how to navigate her wheelchair and be able to feel confident in using it.
One day, while strolling with her Mom, Maren stopped and turned around. Something caught her attention. Maren was in awe as she saw a poster from Ulta Beauty. It wasn’t your usual beauty poster; it was far more special. Something that this little girl can relate to.
“Well Ulta, you absolutely stopped my girl in her tracks this evening. It was mesmerizing to watch her stop, turn and gaze at this poster. So, thank you,” she wrote in her post.
It was just a magical site to enjoy. Good thing that Carolyn was quick to capture the moment and was kind enough to share this photo to everyone through Facebook.
“She just halted and stopped, turned and stared in awe at this image. Seeing somebody with that representation seems like it was just planting a seed to show her that she belongs in this world like everybody else does,”
said Carolyn Anderson in her video interview with CBS.
As any parent would do, Carolyn took a photo of this beautiful moment. It was something special, a picture worth a thousand words. Seeing your child being strong as she endures her rare disease can be overwhelming at times. So, being able to see that your precious child is able to see inspiration in one photo can mean so much.
This Facebook post already has 92k reactions, 3k comments, and 79k shares. Indeed, something that has touched many hearts.
Comments from all around the globe has given Carolyn a way to share their happiness and a way to share awareness. As this post became viral, Carolyn also wanted to send awareness of her daughter’s rare disease.
As a beautiful surprise, Ulta Beauty has already reached out to Maren’s parents as they want to schedule a meeting so that our dear little Maren can finally meet the model in the photo, which is none other than Steph Aiello.
This one photo didn’t just show an ad for sales. It showed far more than that. This photo showed that everyone belongs, that everyone matters, and most of all – everyone is beautiful.
It made this little girl feel that she belongs. It made her feel that someone out there is experiencing the same situation that she has and at an early age, this experience will indeed have a great impact on Maren.
