Watching the ways animals react to various situations can often be a very humorous affair. One of the main reasons is because we simply have a greater understanding of the world than they do. We are able to see things that they can’t. One great example of this is the hilarious video of a frightened cat that was posted by Pinoy Rap Radio on Facebook.
As the cat is chased down by a toy soldier, it completely freaks out.
While as humans, we know there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of, the poor cat doesn’t realize that the soldier is just a toy. In fact, it appears like she doesn’t really know what to think.
The video starts with the cat hiding in the corner, watching the toy soldier intently. The plastic soldier dressed in a blue uniform is pretty high-tech actually.
It comes complete with the ability to crawl across the floor, and a gun that occasionally produces red flashes to simulate firing shots.
As the toy soldier starts crawling towards the cat, guns a blazing, the cat stares it down. All of a sudden, the soldier apparently gets too close.
The cat goes into a complete panic, jumping at the wall and grabbing on the mirror.
She desperately tries to climb up the mirror to escape, and although she is able to hang on for a few seconds, in the end, it proves too difficult.
The soldier continues to approach, and eventually, the cat must decide what to do.
Instead of facing the intimidating enemy head-on, she just takes off.. just like a scaredy-cat. What a shocker!
She is seen wildly jumping around until she ultimately runs away off camera and it’s one of the funniest things we’ve seen recently.
It’s easy to see how the video accumulated over three million views on Facebook, but is it ethical to laugh at the cat’s expense like that?
She is obviously completely terrified. We’re sure the cat’s owner realizes this too, yet decided to create the video anyway.
One person on Facebook commented, “I feel bad for the cat”.
Another user had this to say:
“Oh not funny! Poor wee kitty! Some people are twisted getting their kicks from the fear of others,” said Ngamare Columb.
Most people, however, thought the video was pretty great, as evidenced by the over 16,000 likes it received.
While there is certainly a lot of debate as to whether scaring cats for entertainment is a good idea or a bad one, we can all at least agree on one thing — the cat’s reaction is pretty priceless.
If she is this scared of a small toy soldier, imagine how much of a panic she would be in if anything serious actually ever happened. Looking on the bright side, maybe this is just the experience she needed in order to help build up her fear tolerance a little bit. In the end, she will likely come out of this as a tougher, stronger, more confident cat.
