Lifehacks will make life much easier – that is the point, obviously.
You can find hacks in just about anything, especially when you have easy access to the internet.
Did you know that you can find a bunch of hacks using toothpicks? It is crazy to think that toothpicks could ever be used for more than just eating little cheeses and mini hot dogs.
You can do all nine of these toothpick hacks for check – a pack of 2,500 toothpicks costs just under $3 of Target.
1: Keep the tape from getting stuck
This one is pretty self-explanatory but I would have never thought of this on my own. I absolutely hate how hard it is to grab the tape when it lays flat.
This hack is simple – just stick a toothpick in place to create a little bubble of air between the sheets of tape to keep it from seeling shut.
2: Write secret messages in bananas
Rather than waste paper and leave a note in your kid’s or loved one’s lunch, you can write a note on their banana!
Using a toothpick, you can poke your message into the banana’s skin. Pictures or words work perfectly for this. At first, the message will appear faint (hence the secret message aspect).
Once the banana’s skin has oxidized a bit, the message will show up darker. According to the blogger Come Together Kids, the messages appear more clearly if the banana is very ripe.
3: Microwave a potato on toothpick stilts
Do you ever want a baked potato but you don’t want to bake it in the oven?
If you have ever tossed your potato in the microwave to bake it, you know that parts of the potato never cook right. Some areas are still hard, while others are soft, and then ends are overcooked.
You can stick four toothpicks into the bottom of your potato and use the tootpicks as little legs. This will allow the potato to cook faster and more throughly.
4: Keep fruits and vegetables extra fresh
Do you have a lemon or cucumber that you want to use, but you don’t want to use the whole thing? Rather than wasting half of the fruit or veggie, you can use a toothpick for this.
Simply cut the middle of the lemon, keeping the end, so you can use the part you need, then stick a toothpick between the end and remaining piece of the lemon.
5: Make homemade confetti cake toppers
Do you want to make your next birthday or anniversary celebration extra special?
You can make these cute confetti cake toppers for dirt cheap compared to purchasing them in the store or online. The great thing is they look even cuter when you make them yourself.

6: Create a strawberry topiary
Are you looking to make a tasty treat for your next party? Make a strawberry topiary!
Each strawberry is on its own toothpick, so no one needs to touch any fruit but the one that they want (unlike when the fruit is in a giant bowl).
You can follow the instructions for this hack on the blog Cottage at the Crossroads.
7: Keep cake from going stale
If you have the rare issue where there is leftover cake you don’t want to go stale, don’t worry we’ve got you covered. The simple hack is finish all of the cake!
But obviously, not everyone needs to finish a cake in one sitting (quitters). To keep it from getting gross, you can use toothpicks to stick pieces of bread on the cut edges of the cake.
It will stay perfectly moist and tasty!
8: Cure a toothache
Is there anything worse than getting a toothache and not having medicine to make it go away? I swear toothaches always flare up at like 1 AM when you can’t even go to the store to purchase Orajel.
If this happens to you, don’t fear, grab some liquid-gel Advil! That’ll do the trick in a heartbeat.
Carefully poke a hole into the Advil and then let it drop onto your aching tooth, though be careful to avoid getting the liquid on the inside of your cheek.
9: Grow a potato
Not only can you cook your potato using toothpicks, you can grow one with them as well.
You will need a potato to grow another potato for this hack. You will stick three toothpicks in half of a potato, about midway through.
After you put the toothpicks in, you’ll place the cut side of the potato in a glass of water. Follow the full tutorial by My Heart Beets here.
