Leonardo DiCaprio has a tortoise, Miley Cyrus has a pig, Mike Tyson has a tiger, Vanilla Ice has a wallaroo, and Payton Dankworth has a Donkey.
Wait! What? A donkey? Hee Haw! A donkey it is.
The first four names that I mentioned are famous celebrities they can have any animal they want as pets. However, the last person I mentioned(Payton) is a teenage girl in Texas who happened to become a parent to a helpless stray baby donkey.
Payton to the rescue!
Ms. Dankworth is not a famous celebrity but her good deed made her a viral sensation on the internet. What good deed?
Well, Payton here just rescued an abandoned donkey and made him look like a very well-groomed golden retriever or a pooch. This happened when her friend saw an ailing foal(a baby donkey) while he was riding horses. Her friend said that the donkey which he named Jack was just out in the streets waiting to die.

That is when Payton came into the rescue when she got a call from her friend, she immediately sprung out of her bed went outside to get the donkey. She nursed the malnourished Jack back to health when the donkey’s very own mother abandoned him.
“The first night was the hardest,” said Payton referring to how she rescued Jack.
Jack did not eat and was extremely cautious at first but eventually, he responded to Payton’s care eating what was fed to him to have more energy to be standing up and walking again.

Jack transformed from an ugly, smelly, skinny donkey to an energetic, lovable and happy pet with Payton taking care of him.
Jack might be thinking that Payton is his real mom that is why he is stuck like glue to the teenage girl. The donkey is now a regular member of the Dankworth family along with their dogs.
When having a break at school, Payton runs home just to feed Jack and play with him. Oh what a master’s dedication to her pet, Payton is an epitome of animal lovers such as myself.
“I take Jack on walks and he rides in my car with me, too. He’s kinda like a dog and follows me everywhere.”
Payton brings Jack and her dogs to walks and even in-car rides because she loves them so much. Jack is also fond of his newfound siblings the dogs, he often cries when they are not near each other when sleeping at night.
After saving the poor donkey’s life, Payton would like to pursue taking care of animals in the future. Check out Jack and Payton’s Instagram.
Emotional, mental and physical health boosters
Pets can be the best friend of humans. They are more loyal compared to people. Snakes are even more loyal compared to what we call backstabbers referring them as “snakes”. Having a pet is like a breath of fresh air from pollution coming from humans you get to be with every day.
Pets can sense your sadness and happiness and they sympathize with you. They also need frequent walks, so people who take care of them will be forced to exercise with them. My son who is nine years old is an introvert himself but having a dog who walks with him every morning lets him acquire friends from the neighborhood.
Any living animal deserves to live like Jack. Payton is an inspiration to the youngsters who are too focused on handheld gadgets and other stuff. She is what we call a true “animal lover”.
