Seeing a stray animal that you know you can’t help is truly heartbreaking. We either don’t have the finances or space to bring another little life into the picture. For one woman in Brownsville, Texas, however, letting an animal in need venture past her without helping wasn’t a question.

Destiny Vasquez is an eighteen-year-old girl that saw two dogs playing in a parking lot of a fast-food restaurant. She realized that they were incredibly affectionate and loving, something that few strays naturally are. When she recognized that these sweet dogs didn’t have a home, she posted her video on social media hoping someone would be able to help her.

Thankfully, their plea worked, and the two dogs are now in a loving foster home while they wait to be ready for adoption.

Leslie Hennings shared the video of the sweet dogs onto her Facebook page with the heartbreaking caption:

“They literally begged to be taken but they weren’t. They go up to every car that passes by in hopes to find a home. It’s been weeks. Tonight it will be another night in the parking lot. It will be another night in the streets. These two only have each other and desperately need rescue together! Please help network them for rescue and foster!”

The video shows the dogs wagging their tails and putting their paws on the window of the car as they are given bits of food to eat.

You can tell from the video just how kind-natured these pups are, and they don’t deserve to be out on the streets.

Destiny spoke to The Dodo about her initial meeting with the dogs – and how she knew instantly that she had to help them, saying:

“I was in the drive-thru, I saw one of the dogs and said, ‘Oh my gosh! This dog has no home. I was crying and crying. I called my mom, and I said, ‘Mom, I have to get this dog.’ I didn’t know there were two dogs at the time.”

Incredibly, the social media post caught some traction. Soon, Ana Teran, a volunteer for Animal Aid Brigade in Houston, saw the post and knew that she was destined to help.

“As soon as I saw it, I just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t let it go. I just said, ‘How can I get these dogs? If I have to rent a car, I will, to get them,’” She told The Dodo.

And that’s exactly what she did. Ana drove from Houston to South Texas, and then she laid eyes on the adorable pooches.

“I was so excited to see them! They were just the cutest,” Ana said. “They wanted love so desperately. They were so friendly. They were not fearful or timid. They had big smiles; they were so excited. They had no idea what was going on, but they were so happy.”

Ana decided to name her new friends for the parking lot they were found in, Patty and Pepper. Fitting names for a fast-food restaurant! Ana is going to be acting as their temporary guardian, but she knows that there are so many other people who would be happy to have them. When they finally find a home, she knows it will be sad but totally worth it. For the time being, however, they are going to have the best of times. She said:

“They are so bonded, they really stick together. Their demeanor is very sweet. They are always looking at every detail.”

How adorable! We’re so thankful to selfless people like Ana who do such an amazing job at keeping these fur babies safe and sound until they’re adopted.
