How do you celebrate your birthday? Do you throw a party with your friends? Do you travel? Or eat in a fancy restaurant with your family? Well, these are the usual stuff that we do on our birthday.

Normally you get presents, hugs, and kisses. Not for Chris Ferry a resident of Atlantic City, New Jersey who celebrated his birthday on March 16, 2019, in an awesomely weird way.

Suprise!

Imagine waking up in the morning to have your breakfast then suddenly receiving thousands of phone calls from strangers from different parts of the world. Mike said he received messages from as far away as Africa and Germany.

“I’m getting things like, ‘My father’s birthday was March 16. He passed away. I’m contacting you in memory of him,” Chris Ferry said.

Mr. Perry said he received more than 15,000 calls and messages wishing him a happy birthday. He thought it was strange he asked one of his callers how did they find out about his birthday.

“Saying ‘Nick? Nick who? You don’t know me, how do you it’s my birthday?’ [They] saw it on a billboard,” Ferry said.

The Prank

An enormous billboard with Mike’s face on it and his number can be seen by people driving from the Black Horse Pike into Atlantic City toward the casinos.

Culprits of the prank are his two sons, Mike, and Chris who lives in Florida. They said that it is the continuation of their prank that they used to do with their dad when they are eating at a restaurant.

“They would always tell the waiter, waitress it’s my birthday, even though it wasn’t,” Chris Ferry explained.

The billboard has a written message, “Wish my dad Happy Birthday. Love, your sons.” When people saw it they started calling and messaging Mike’s phone non-stop to wish him a happy birthday.

“I just wanted to wish him an extra special birthday,” said his son Mike Ferry.

Family Fun

When CBS reporter Meg Baker asked Mr. Perry, “Has it been fun or do you want to kill them?” Chris replied, “It was fun until this morning. Then I wanted to kill them. But I’m going with it, having a good time.”

“I would love to see him try,” Mike Ferry said. “I just wanted to say I love my dad, I love my family, and I’m really glad he’s getting attention because he’s a great guy. He always puts others first, especially me and my brother.”

It would be an interesting comeback prank from Chris if he really gets back at his boys. Hopefully, when he does it, it will go viral like this one.

Show your Appreciation

The billboard was taken out on April 6, 2019, but Chris and his sons already rose to fame since this prank went viral on the internet. Prank or not, the Ferry brothers, Mike and Chris showed how much they love their father despite being far away from each other.

Our folks are not aging in reverse, let us show our appreciation for them in any kind of way. Communicating with your parents is the best way to show that you care about them. A simple phone call or a simple text from you would really make your mom or dad happy.

For me, it’s a sweet and unique way to celebrate my birthday but I would surely get back at my son if I was the victim of this prank.
