Janna Berger had to leave her precious pooch, Murphy, for 8-months during her military deployment. When she returned, their love had only grown
It wasn’t easy for Janna to leave her dog behind, he would wait outside her room every day waiting for his mother to return. She had been deployed overseas for 8-months, spending a lot of that time thinking about Murphy.
“I thought about Murphy every day, being away from him was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. In the first letter my mom sent me, she told me about how every day since I’d left, Murphy waited outside the door to my room for me to come back,” Janna told The Dodo.
When it came time for Janna to reunite with her pup, it took him a second to even realize it was her. When he did, he tackled her and swarmed her with loving licks
It was an anxious moment for Janna, coming face to face with the dog she had left behind for so long. Although she couldn’t be with Murphy during the 8-month deployment, he was never far from her thoughts.
When the big moment finally arrived, Murphy almost didn’t recognize her. He barked and paced, trying to figure out who this person trying to hug him was. Once it clicked in his brain, the pooch sprinted up and jumped on his owner that he had missed so dearly.
Once he finally realized who it was, Murphy went crazy with love for his long-lost friend
He started rapidly licking her face, before barreling into her full speed and shaking with excitement. Murphy couldn’t contain his excitement, running around his cherished friend and showering her with love.
Janna grabs onto him and squeezes him tightly, but Murphy is overcome with joy, he continues to sprint around and dive into her arms headfirst.
Clearly, the bond they have has only grown stronger with time.
We’ve never seen a dog so excited, he must have thought she would never return.
The way Murphy tackles Janna with affection will bring tears to your eyes, anyone with a dog can understand how powerful this moment was. Once Murphy calms down a little bit, the two pals can catch up for the lost time.
