There are many factors on how people choose a pet to bring home, especially from the shelter. However, there are some who are instantly captivated by the first one they see after entering the building or reading an ad about it. This is true for this one family who shared their story about how they adopted their dog from the internet.
If you have not heard their story yet, then this is the perfect time to hear it.

It all started when staff from Beaumont Animal Care in Texas happened to pass by a small pup on the main road, all alone. Stray dogs have hardened themselves to survive on the streets, but the innocent pup they found might not be able to survive for long. In fact, when they found the pup, it almost got hit by the car. Lucky for the puppy, they were there at the right time to pick her up.

The people brought the little pup to their shelter, and they immediately tended to her. Everyone there was captivated by the poochโs adorable looks. Rachel Barron, one of Beaumont Animal Careโs staff, instantly fell in love with the rescued pupโs heart-melting smile. No matter how much they loved the new pupโs innocent looks, they knew that they had a mission to bring her to a better home.

The staff thought of the most perfect way to advertise her adoption.

Barron took the initiative to record a short clip of the smiling dog and posted it on her Facebook page with the caption:
โThis little girl is so happy. But what would make her smile even bigger? A forever home.โ
With those words alone, it was enough to rack up views and reactions from the Facebook community. Plenty were struck by the dogโs beauty but it seems that only a few were genuinely interested in bringing her home.
However, there was one family who fell in love with the pooch at first sight.

Nicole Toney was just browsing on Facebook one day when she saw this adorable pooch as she scrolled on her timeline. Her heart thumped seeing the wide smile of the puppy from the clip, and she immediately told her husband about it. The next day, they excitedly went to meet the puppy themselves by driving to the shelter. The family wasnโt the least bit disappointed after arriving from their drive as they finally met the adorable puppy from the ad.

Without hesitation, Toney filled up the adoption papers and they were more than ready to take the sweet pooch home on the same day. The Toneys introduced her to the family immediately after getting home. The family was excited, and they also knew that the pooch felt the same way.
โShe was shy at first, but you could tell she was so sweet and excited,โ Toney told The Dodo.

Itโs time to give the puppy the warmest welcome to her new home.

As soon as they got home, they immediately gave her a warm welcome with the rest of the family. They gave her the name Layla, and the dog seemed to be happy with it. Nicole already owns three rescue dogs and two cats, and so to make their new addition feel comfortably welcome, they decided to introduce them one by one.

It was amazing how the sweet pooch was able to get along with them without any problems. Although some were still a bit cautious around her, it did not take them long enough to become friends with Layla.
The family was happy to witness Laylaโs playfulness.

Layla may look like a shy girl at first, but when she gets in the zone, she is super energetic! It seemed like she has the energy to play all the time and still has some left to spare at the end of the day. Layla would go grab the other dogsโ toys and sometimes would grab the othersโ attention and urge them to play with her.
The family then taught her how to climb the stairs.

Layla had probably not encountered stairs in her entire life and it was her first time seeing them in her new home. The family encouraged her to practice climbing up and down, and they were there every step of the way to support her. That said, the moment she put her paws on the steps for the first time, she was already confident. With just a few mistakes, they saw Layla keep on improving day by day.
Layla has grown ever since but her beautiful smile never aged a day.

Laylaโs a proper dog now and she is big enough to take the space in the carโs front seat. Even though she has grown, she remains the playful pooch that always comes with her heart-melting smile. Get to know more about Layla and her adventures on Instagram.
