Dancing is such a wonderful way to let our creativity flow. When we dance, all of our worries melt away into the background. It’s like nothing is left but the music.
Many of us slowly develop our dance skills over time. It takes practice to perfect our moves and to build up enough confidence to shimmy and shake in front of a crowd. In fact, some adults still don’t feel comfortable busting a move in public!
While the rest of the world is still coming into its stride, one little girl is already owning the spotlight. She has serious skills, and she’s not afraid to show them off.
Roxie Onellion is not your typical little girl. She is only 8 years old, but she is a natural-born star. Her ultimate love is tap dancing, and her routines always leave her audience amazed.
Recently Roxie competed in the Kar Dance Competition in Redondo Beach – and she killed it! This feisty fun lover claimed the first place prize of the Mini Tap Solo round of the contest. She is well on her way to becoming the next dance sensation.
Before the music starts, Roxie stands on the stage with a big smile on her face. Her hands are on her hips, and her posture just oozes confidence. She might be tiny, but she clearly knows how to make a big impression.
Roxie waits patiently as the music begins. She knows exactly when to begin her routine, and she doesn’t miss a beat. The young performer starts expertly tapping her feet in perfect rhythm with the “Little Bird” beat.
As the song continues, Roxie expertly taps across the stage. She brings so much energy to the routine! It is obvious that she has practiced for countless hours to perfect her performance, but she also seems to be having the time of her life – and that makes her routine so much fun to watch!
This girl moves with such precision. It’s hard to believe that someone so young can already have cultivated so much talent. Of course the main focus is on her fast feet, but Roxie uses her arms to work a little of her own magic into the performance. She is clearly making this dance her own, and the result is pure gold.
Roxie spins, twists, and taps – all in perfect timing. Her future definitely involves being in the limelight. This girl is a natural entertainer, and she really knows how to put on a good show. It’s no surprise that she won first place overall. Her future is so bright.
Roxie keeps her audience captivated all the way to the end. Members of the audience holler and cheer as the girl taps her way all across the stage. This is one performance you won’t want to miss.
As the song comes to a close, Roxie keeps extremely focused. She kicks up one leg just as the singer’s last “yeah” comes out. At the sound of more cheering, the young girl gives a quick bow. And with that, she is off! Roxie exits the stage while the audience breaks into an applause.
It takes a lot of dedication to perfect a craft so completely, and Roxie has totally mastered the art of tap dancing. She has found her calling at a young age, and she is already chasing after her dreams.
Roxie trains at The Base Dance Center, and she competes in these types of competitions all the time. Of course, it’s not surprising how often she wins – look at this girl go!
Last year the young starlet claimed third place for her Meteorite dance routine at The Dance Awards in Las Vegas. Needless to say she stunned the crowd; it’s what this tap dancing trend-setter does!
Roxie hit the road again around New Years, and she is about to claim yet another award. She performed at the JUMP Dance Convention in Kansas City, Missouri, in the beginning of January. The results are not out yet, but we just know the young girl’s “Take It” performance was out of this world.
Roxie is a terrific tap dancer, and her dedication to her craft is an inspiration to us all. Just look what this girl can do when she sets her mind to a goal!
Roxie is certainly talented, and her outstanding performance is a reminder that with practice and commitment we can all get closer to our goals. No dream is too big to achieve, as long as you are willing to take the first step.
