Robin Williams was one of the most beloved actors of all times. His tragic passing by suicide back in 2014 is something that left a mark on all of us Williams fans out there. Despite what must have been a rough final few years for the man, we’ll always remember him as the happy go lucky actor from movies such as Flubber, Jumanji, and Mrs. Doubtfire, just to name a few of our favorites.
Besides his acting legacy, Robin also leaves behind quite a large family as well.
He raised three beautiful children, and if he were still around today, he would now also be able to say that he has grandchildren!
Zak, the eldest child of Robin, recently had a son of his own, and in honor of his late dad, he and his fiancée Olivia June decided to name the baby McLaurin Clement Williams.
McLaurin was Robin’s middle name.
According to People, the baby was born into this world on Wednesday, May 22, measuring 20.5 inches and weighing in at just eight pounds.
While McLaurin isn’t a typical baby name, it certainly means a lot that the couple would consider honoring Robin in such a personal manner.
Although McLaurin will never get to meet his granddad in person, he will carry a small piece of him with him always in the form of his name. Although, for day to day life, Zak and Olivia plan on calling the child Mickey. It just flows off the tongue a little better.
While Zak cannot bring his father back, the name is his way of helping to keep the actor’s memory alive.
He mentioned to Vanity Fair last year that not being there in the final days of his father’s life is one of his biggest regrets.
“I’m kicking myself for not visiting him during that time. Because I think that was a very lonely period for him,” said Zak.
“In retrospect, I feel like I should have been there, spending time with him. Because someone who needs support was not getting the support he needed.”
Zak, who works as an entrepreneur and angel investor in LA has now also taken up a new additional position as a mental-health advocate.
His fiancée Olivia is CEO of the women’s-empowerment tech startup Hey VINA.
The two really are a great match for each other.
And if the couple’s awesome baby announcement they posted on Instagram is any indication, we’re positive that they are going to be great parents as well.
“Introducing you to my little family! My fiancé, Zak, and I were so happy to welcome baby McLaurin to the world on May 22nd. We are beyond thrilled he chose us to be his parents, and obviously think he’s the best, smartest, and cutest baby ever!!” the post reads.
“Zak, the headline is true, you’re already and will always be, “World’s Greatest Dad!” Mickey and I are the luckiest.”
We’re sure if Robin was still around to congratulate them, he would be saying the same thing.
