When a child is given a role in a wedding, only two things are bound to happen: he or she will gamely do what is expected, or he or she will have absolutely none of it.
And the latter is always understandable, especially when the kids are below five years old. After all, it can be extremely overwhelming to be in an unfamiliar place with many different faces.
Ring bearers and flower girls, charming as they are, don’t always love being given such responsibilities. Some will jump at the chance to wear formal wear (especially the little girls who can’t wait to don flower crowns and pretty dresses, and carry baskets filled with petals), while some blatantly refuse to do so.
These two little ones were pretty great at their given roles, though.

XL had no stage fright whatsoever. He stood at the end of the aisle with his game face on, ready to march towards the front.
Dapper and oh-so-adorable, he definitely fulfilled his ring bearer duties smoothly.
The next young star needed a bit of coaxing, though.
Wearing a short, white, sleeveless dress with a pretty yellow ribbon around her waist, Alexis, the adorably shy little girl, wasn’t sure if she should march to the front or just stay rooted to one spot.
Chewing somewhat nervously on her fingers, she kept a firm grip on the wicker basket and glanced at the onlookers shyly.
The grownups near Alexis tried to teach her how to walk towards the front by smiling at her encouragingly and gesturing towards the altar. Some of them even demonstrated how to toss petals on to the ground. But the little darling remained standing, still unsure.
Until the dashing ring bearer came to her rescue.
Much to everyone’s surprise, XL left his spot in front and walked briskly back to where the little flower girl stood. He seemed to be telling her what to do and where to go and was even captured pointing to the front of the church.
The little girl began to grin as she listened, as if she understood. Moments after, Alexis was ready.
She looked lovely as she started to walk down the aisle, a smile on her face and a basket of petals in hand.
And because he was every bit a gentleman, he made sure to walk slightly behind her and alongside her until they reached the front. This made wedding guests smile and gush as they watched the handsome young man and the charming flower girl make their way to the front of the church. Little boys and little girls sure know how to add magic and charm to any wedding!
Everyone loved the young gentleman’s thoughtful gesture.
He was more than willing to go out of his way to make sure Alexis could walk confidently until she reached the front. XL had no qualms about stepping out of his spot and coming to the flower girl’s rescue.
Alexis clearly felt better and happier after XL helped her.
