Melnotte was surprised by how his puppy started racking up a couple of thousand views, which then inspired Melnotte to upload more frequently. Subscribers kept coming and they witnessed how the puppy grew up to be the round blob of an adorable couch potato Reuben is today.

Among Reuben’s first videos was a clip of him throwing a tantrum.

The video was less than a minute long, but people on the internet never got tired of watching it plenty of times. It shows Reuben throwing a hissy fit at Melnotte for perhaps something that upset him. The poor pup was probably ignored for a short time or was denied a yummy treat. Reuben whined while adorably thrashing on his bed with all his might just so he could get Melnotte’s attention. He threw a couple of little barks at him but Melnotte didn’t acknowledge his anger.

Reuben got a little tired and decided to rest himself on the bed, while Melnotte drew his camera closer to the dog’s wrinkly face so you could just hear him breathe. Reuben let out an exasperated sigh and barked at his stubborn owner. The dog tried to drive Melnotte away with his barks, but it seems that his owner could just not take him seriously.

Who can blame Melnotte when all he sees is a cute puppy trying to express his emotions? Despite the puppy being angry, you can’t just resist but smile as you stare at his innocent puppy eyes as he thrashes his bed with his tiny paws.

Most dog owners encounter a lot of trouble with their dogs when they’re puppies. Just like Reuben, puppies like to throw tantrums when it seems that they cannot get what they want, or perhaps they still feel untrusting towards their environment and the people around them. Even though it is a lot of growling and barking, it’s really just a process of creating a bond with their owners.

After that video, Reuben’s popularity grew to what it is now.
