Dad posts two very different graduation signs on front lawn for his sons that make the neighbors talk
The signs definitely turned heads!

When parents are asked if they have a favorite child, they always reply that they don’t; all of their children are the same to them and they love all of them dearly.

Well, that’s not a lie. But it’s not the whole truth either.

In fact, a study published in Journal of Family Psychology showed that 74% of moms and 70% of dads reported preferential treatment toward one child.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that parents tend to love one of their children more than the others, but it is more about how the child’s personality and their own in a way click.

This might or might not be the case in the Parappuram family as well.

The family has two boys, Justin and Ryan, an they both happened to have achieved great things this year.

More specifically, Ryan graduated from High School, while Justin just got his degree in Mechanical Engineering.

The Texas family has taken Twitter by storm with the funny- yet controversial- signs father Parappuram put up in the family backyard.

A couple of weeks ago, Justin posted on Twitter pictures of the signs his father put up to show how proud he was of his sons.

However, the two signs had one major difference. One son was Valedictorian- and it was printed in big letters- while the other one wasn’t.

And while the creator of the sign could have simply omitted this information, their dad just decided it needed to be clarified that Justin was NOT Valedictorian.

When Justin tweeted about this, he certainly didn’t expect a tsunami of all kinds of reactions to come his way.

“That’s not cool. Shame on your parents,” someone wrote.

Someone else referred to their own tragic story and asked Justin to be grateful for what his dad did- at least he didn’t steal his money, you know?

“Well done, don’t be sad, my parents refused to send me to college and stole the money I had saved from the military to go to college. Be grateful for what he has done,” she wrote.

Others rushed to point out that High School is nowhere as difficult as Mechanical Engineering, and that he should be given more credit for it.

Even the official page of Texas A&M University replied to his tweet, writing that they were still proud of him.

Seeing that people had taken the whole thing too seriously, Justin decided to clarify it was just a joke.

He highlighted how much he loves both his dad and brother, and explained he had agreed to put up those signs.

“I love both my dad and brother, this was all in good fun!” he wrote, adding that: “My dad couldn’t be more thrilled for the both of us and only printed this sign with my consent.”

The tweet went viral and the family even talked to ABC13 in a short interview. The proud father explained how the whole thing started and how they suddenly got their 15 minutes of fame out of nowhere.

“[My family] is everything for me,” he said. “I’m so proud of these kids. That’s our life [for me and my wife]- our kids!”
