Who doesn’t want a fairytale ending? Or should we say, beginning?

From an early age, we are exposed to living happily ever after with the person who cherishes us the most.

We daydream of our prince charming riding in on horseback or our princess patiently waiting for our arrival. While it may not happen exactly as it does in the movies, anything is possible.

Disney movies hold a special place in many hearts. As children, they brought us warmth, hope, and adventure. As adults, they bring us nostalgia.

As an adult, it’s easy to forget some of those feelings that Disney so effortlessly brought to our TV screens. After all, being an adult is filled with eye-rolling tasks such as paying bills, going to work, and working harder every year to maintain one’s health.

The list goes on!

But it’s important to never forget the childlike wonder that brought endless joy and dared you to dream during the most innocent stages of life.

You never know. Doing so may lead you to your prince or princess.

One couple never lost their imagination and continued to strive for that fairytale love. Filmmaker, Lee Loechler, knew that his high school sweetheart’s, Sthuthi David, favorite Disney film was Sleeping Beauty. Thus, when he decided to propose to her, he knew that he wanted to do something magical.

Loechler reached out to an illustrator from Australia to help re-animate the film starring himself and David as Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora, respectively.

The pair worked on the project for six months! It had to be perfect, of course! When Loechler asked the historic Coolidge Corner Theatre to help with the proposal, they couldn’t turn it down.

Beth Gilligan of the theatre told CBS Boston, “The proposal idea was so incredible we were like ‘We have to find a way to make this work.'”

Loechler then reached out to their family and friends to join in on the fun. He reserved 20 seats in the theatre where they were to sit and watch quietly as if they were regular patrons. In turn, he offered them pizza and beer.

When the time came, Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip looked noticeably different in the famous scene where the prince arrives at the castle to kiss the princess.

In the video Loechler posted on YouTube, David’s face is priceless. She looks confused as the characters suddenly look nothing as they did before. Loechler can’t help but smile and watch her reaction.

But one of the highlights is when “Prince Phillip” pulls out a ring and tosses it offscreen. In one swift move, Loechler catches the box and gets down on one knee to pop the big question.

David was so taken aback she states, “I don’t even know what to say.”

“I hope you do,” Loechler responds as laughter fills the theatre.

David glances behind her not realizing that the guests in the theatre are their friends and family.

“Oh my God, these poor people,” she says before taking another nervous look around the audience and realizing who they are.

After “heart jokes,” (David is a Cardiologist) and more nervous laughter, she says yes. The movie continues with the Fairies applauding and cheering for the couple. If that weren’t jaw-droppingly beautiful enough, it ends with the standard, “The End” title being replaced with, “The Beginning.”

The video ends with a photo of the couple in the rain standing outside of the theatre and under the marquee sign that reads, “Congratulations Sthuthi & Lee.”

Of course, Loechler is holding the umbrella to keep his princess dry.
