We all like to believe our pets are as lovable and caring as we are, and that they would take the time to help someone out. Believe it or not, other animals saving animals is a pretty common thing. Whether it is a baby pig pushing a baby goat out of the water, a dog saving other dogs adrift in a stream, or a poodle alerting others to a cat that is in danger, animals do care and will go out of their way to help others.
The Quick Thinking Poodle Knew Something Was Wrong

The animal rescue organization Hope for Paws, located in California, received a text on its emergency line. According to a woman, she had been driving around with a kitten inside of her engine. A quick-thinking poodle, who belonged to another woman, alerted everyone to the presence of the kitten. Soon, a rescue attempt was underway.
The Rescue

Initially, the representative from Hope for Paws had little luck extracting the kitten from the engine compartment of the car. The kitten understandably was frightened and so avoided any contact. Eventually, the organization’s representative was able to get the kitten into a position to remove it.
Unfortunately, the kitten had other ideas and soon moved to hide under a different vehicle. Finally, everyone was able to corner the cat in another vehicle and block off its escape. Some fast reflexes from the Hope for Paws representative and soon the kitten was safely in hand.
Cleaning Up the Rescued Kitten

Once removed from the car engine and cleaned up back at the shelter, the kitten, now named Axle turned out to be very loving and playful. Being a little feral, axle was first fostered at Cat Connection Los Angeles to get him acclimated to being around others, and get him ready for his eventual adoption.
Hope for Paws

The goal of Hope for Paws is to rescue mainly neglected animals, though in this case the organization made an exception to save a kitten that was in need. An important way for the organization to highlight the plight of rescued animals is through the videos they make. Their ultimate goal is to see the animals they save adopted by loving homes.
Other Examples of Animals Saving Other Animals Lives

Some animals that have saved the lives of other animals include a Labrador retriever who acted quickly when two older dogs were set adrift in a canoe. Heading unguided down a raging river, the Labrador jumped into the water and grabbed the rope of the canoe with its teeth. It then drug the canoe to shore so that the other two dogs could get out.

Another animal rescue story involves a baby pig and goat. It seems the baby goat went into the water and soon was in over its head. Bleating for help, a nearby baby pig took it upon himself to jump in the water and save the goat. Swimming to the goat, the baby pig then pushed it to shore saving its life.
It just goes to show that animals care about other animals just like we do. They also risk their lives from time to time to try and help those animals out. Check out this video about Axle’s rescue and how he ended up being a lovable kitten underneath all of that grease.
